(vov.vn) - Still preserving many cultural features of the Thai people, combined with beautiful natural landscapes, Kha village (Sap Vat commune, Yen Chau, Son La) has been invested in to develop a model of community tourism associated with new rural construction. This is one of the attractive destinations for tourists on the journey to explore the Northwest.
Kha Village is located right next to National Highway 6, nearly 10 km from Yen Chau town (Yen Chau district, Son La province). The village has more than 90 households, more than 420 people, nearly 100% of whom are Thai ethnic people.
Coming to Kha village, visitors can immerse themselves in the peaceful, natural atmosphere of an ancient Thai village, with most families living in ancient stilt houses, surrounded by mango gardens, shady ancient tamarind trees, and the winding Vat stream...

Mr. Quang Van Phanh, 80 years old, a resident of Kha village, said that the villagers are still preserving and promoting many unique cultural features of the Thai people, such as folk singing, performing traditional musical instruments; maintaining traditional crafts such as weaving, embroidering Piêu scarves, knitting daily necessities, and festivals such as "Xen ban", "Xen lau no", "Dong sua"... These are traditional rituals with the meaning of praying for health, a year of favorable weather, good harvests.
"Every year on the 10th, we have to make a ceremony. We pray for the villagers to be healthy, have a prosperous business, have a good harvest, and have healthy cattle and buffaloes without disease," said Mr. Quang Van Phanh.
From the available advantages and potentials, Yen Chau district has implemented the Project to develop a rural tourism model in Kha village; a roadmap for building tourism products in 5 years, with a total investment of about 43 billion VND, focusing on building main items, such as: Welcome gate to the village; building a reception point at the parking lot; parking spots and an electric car system to transport tourists to the village to ensure the environment; sales points and experience games; building an experience route; beautifying the village landscape, building sanitation points...
Practice performing arts to prepare to welcome and serve tourists
On the Kha village side, the implementation of the Project has selected 5 families with the ability to renovate and upgrade into homestays; 3 families with the ability to open ethnic cuisine restaurants; 3 families with the ability to weave fabrics, embroider Piêu scarves, and weave bamboo and rattan by hand to serve tourists. Many households in Kha village have been trained in community tourism knowledge. The village has also established 2 folk art teams, regularly organizing rehearsals and performing folk songs, folk dances, and folk music programs to serve tourists.
Ms. Vi Thi Thanh, a resident of Kha village, shared: "My family has registered to participate in tourism, and we have bought new blankets and mattresses to prepare for guests. When guests arrive, we often prepare Thai dishes, such as papaya leaves, bon soup, boiled bamboo shoots, grilled chicken and fish, etc. to serve them."
Keep weaving
Mr. Quang Van Chien - Vice Chairman of Sap Vat Commune People's Committee also said: "The province and district are interested in the policy of building Kha village as a community tourism destination, our commune is very excited. We have worked with the district and the consulting unit to survey and re-plan village roads and alleys, and establish a tourism cooperative so that people can work together and know how to do tourism."

According to Mr. Lu Van Cuong - Chairman of Yen Chau District People's Committee, in order to build Kha village into a community tourism village associated with new rural construction, Yen Chau District People's Committee has directed the relevant agencies to develop and guide the application of a set of criteria on cultural environment at Kha village community tourism site; organize training courses, raise awareness of cultural environment, build standards on lifestyle, behavior in communication, in conduct as well as in other tourism business activities.
People preserve brocade weaving
"Currently, we have developed a plan to take households to visit and learn at tourist areas and spots that are similar to the actual conditions of the people in Kha village. Along with that, we also take people to places where there are tourism guidance programs for people to approach and learn. We have also reported to the province and the province has directed us to build Kha village into a model cultural tourism village, using capital sources from the national target program and legal budget sources, developing Kha village into a community cultural tourism village approved by the province", said Mr. Lu Van Cuong.
The Chairman of Yen Chau District People's Committee also said that in addition to the Thai ethnic community tourism village, the locality has also developed a plan to preserve and promote the cultural values of some ethnic groups such as Mong, Xinh Mun..., in order to promote traditional cultural values associated with tourism; thereby, creating a breakthrough to promote local socio-economic development. This is also one of the important contents that the district has included in the draft Resolution of the 20th District Party Congress, term 2026 - 2030, which will take place next year.
