Son La Province and Thanh Hoa Province Investment, Trade and Tourism Connection Conference 2024.

Attending the conference were: Mr. Nguyen Van Thi, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Son La province; representatives from departments and bureaus of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development; leaders of relevant departments and agencies of the two provinces; the Business Associations of the two provinces; and over 200 businesses and entrepreneurs from the provinces of Son La, Thanh Hoa, Ninh Binh, Nghe An, and Ha Tinh.

At the conference, leaders of the two provinces provided information on the potential and strengths in the fields of agriculture and tourism. By the end of 2024, Son La province had 88,688 hectares of industrial crops; 84,780 hectares of fruit trees and hawthorn trees; recognized 8 high-tech agricultural zones; 308 safe agricultural and aquatic food supply chains and 188 OCOP products; 29 agricultural and aquatic products granted protection certificates by the Intellectual Property Office and 2 products granted protection certificates abroad. The province currently has 19 industrial-scale agricultural processing plants and nearly 600 small and medium-sized agricultural processing facilities.

Leaders of the Provincial People's Committee and the Business Associations of Son La and Thanh Hoa provinces chaired the discussion session at the conference.

With its potential and strengths in tourism, agriculture, processing industry, and energy industry, Son La province will focus on attracting high-tech agricultural projects, organic farming, and clean agriculture; projects processing agricultural and forestry products in its strengths; and at the same time encourage the attraction of socialized investment projects in the fields of health, education, environment, and commercial infrastructure.

For Thanh Hoa province, it is one of the few localities in the country. It possesses all three ecological zones – mountainous, plain, and coastal – favorable for the development of a multi-sectoral and multi-field economy, along with a strategically important geographical location, a long tradition of revolution, culture, and history, and 1,535 national and international-valued historical sites and scenic spots; Vietnam has 102 km of coastline and 213.6 km of border with neighboring Laos; its infrastructure is comprehensively developed, and transportation is convenient and diverse.

Over the years, Thanh Hoa province prioritizes resources to coordinate with localities in organizing numerous events and activities to promote investment, trade, and tourism. Notable examples include the Conference on Connecting Industrial and Handicraft Products of Thanh Hoa Province with Northern Provinces in 2024; and the conferences on linking tourism development between Thanh Hoa Province and the Southeastern and Northwestern provinces, held in Son La province in 2023... Along with many other activities connecting businesses in the fields of investment, trade, and tourism across the three regions, these initiatives have attracted significant interest, support, and active participation from businesses both within and outside the province.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province delivered a speech at the conference.

Speaking at the conference, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Van Thi, emphasized: The 2024 Investment, Trade, and Tourism Connection Conference between Son La and Thanh Hoa provinces is an event for extensive cooperation in all three areas: investment, trade, and tourism. It serves as an effective bridge for the two provinces to promote and showcase the potential and strengths of each locality. At the same time, it creates opportunities for investors and businesses from both provinces to meet, learn about each other, and cooperate in promoting investment, trade, and tourism. This will lead to the establishment of distribution channels, expansion of markets for goods, the development of complete and attractive tourism products and services, and increased exchange of tourist markets, making a significant contribution to the socio-economic development of each locality.

At the conference, representatives from the business associations of the two provinces and various businesses and cooperatives shared and introduced the potential advantages of the two provinces and opportunities for cooperation, linkage, and investment promotion in the fields of trade and tourism.

The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Son La province delivered a speech at the conference.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Son La Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Cong expressed his sincere gratitude to Thanh Hoa province for facilitating and coordinating with Son La province in organizing this important conference, creating opportunities for Son La to meet, share, and promote the province's potential and investment opportunities to investors and businesses from Thanh Hoa province and other provinces in the region. Son La province is committed to fulfilling its responsibilities to investors coming to Son La; accompanying businesses and investors in overcoming difficulties during the implementation of projects. Through this conference, Son La province hopes to receive feedback and strengthen cooperation, investment, trade, and tourism connections between Son La and Thanh Hoa provinces.

On this occasion, comrades Nguyen Van Thi and Nguyen Thanh Cong signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between Son La and Thanh Hoa provinces; businesses and cooperatives from both provinces also signed agreements on cooperation in production and product distribution.
