Currently, Son La has more than 82,000 hectares of fruit trees and hawthorn trees (apple trees), a dual-purpose tree whose fruit is often used as a medicinal herb, can be eaten directly or fermented and distilled into wine. Some crops have large areas and output, such as plum, longan, mango, custard apple, strawberry... By the end of November, Son La had consumed nearly 350,000 tons of fruit, estimated at 93% of output, worth over 5,300 billion VND.

The locality has 17 factories and more than 540 agricultural processing facilities; each year, the processing capacity ranges from several tens to thousands of tons of mango, longan, coffee, cassava, pineapple, plum, sweet corn, banana, macadamia, hawthorn, vegetables, tubers, etc., contributing to reducing the pressure on fresh fruit consumption and increasing the value of agricultural products. Son La's fruit products are also purchased by enterprises and cooperatives and processed into dried fruit products, crispy dried fruit, juice, longan juice, etc.

In 2024, the production index of the entire Son La industry is estimated to increase by 28.3%, of which the processing and manufacturing industry will increase by about 5.6%. Some processed industrial products are estimated to increase compared to the same period, such as: pre-processed tea, cassava starch, sterilized fresh milk... The expected value of agricultural processing industry production is 5,300 billion VND, an increase of more than 8% compared to 2023.

Revealing the secret to successfully attracting investors to Son La's agricultural sector, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of Son La Provincial People's Committee, affirmed that although Son La is a mountainous province, far from the capital, with difficult roads..., Son La province always listens to investors to issue timely and attractive policies.
