(dantocmiennui.vn) - On December 21st, the People's Committee of Phu Yen district (Son La province) held a ceremony to announce the Resolution of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly on the establishment of Quang Huy town and the rearrangement of commune-level administrative units in Phu Yen district; to announce the Decision recognizing Ban Mai Suoi Chieu tourist destination; and to approve the general planning of Phu Yen town until 2035.

Expanding Phu Yen town will involve adjusting a portion of the natural area and population of Quang Huy, Huy Bac, and Huy Ha communes into Phu Yen town. After the expansion, Phu Yen town will have an area of over 14 square kilometers, comprising 25 villages and sub-districts.
According to the plan, the entire natural area of 1.05 km2 and a population of 11,252 people of Phu Yen town will be merged; a portion of the natural area of 4.11 km2 and a population of 3,571 people of 6 villages in Huy Bac commune will be merged and adjusted; a portion of the natural area of 9.05 km2 and a population of 8,235 people of 11 villages in Quang Huy commune will be merged; and a portion of the natural area of 0.63 km2 and a population of 99 people of Huy Ha commune will be merged into Phu Yen town. The reorganized Phu Yen town is expected to be named Quang Huy town. The entire natural area of 21.73 km2 and a population of 2,840 people of the remaining 5 villages in Huy Bac commune will be merged into Huy Ha commune, and Huy Bac commune will be dissolved. The entire natural area of 36.56 km2 and a population of 1,521 people from the remaining 3 hamlets of Quang Huy commune will be merged into Suoi To commune, thus dissolving Quang Huy commune.
Also at the announcement ceremony, the People's Committee of Phu Yen district announced the Decision approving the general planning of Phu Yen town until 2035; the list of investment attraction projects in Phu Yen district for the period 2021-2025; and awarded certificates for 9 OCOP products to entities that registered products in 2024.

In addition, the leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Son La province announced Decision No. 1708/QD-UBND dated August 20, 2024, of the Provincial People's Committee recognizing Ban Mai Suoi Chieu tourist site in Muong Thai commune, Phu Yen district.
Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Chairman of the Son La Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Dinh Viet emphasized: The expansion of Phu Yen town, the establishment of Quang Huy town, and the recognition of Ban Mai Suoi Chieu tourist destination are important prerequisites for socio-economic development and improving the material and spiritual lives of the people.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Son La province requested that the Party Committee, government, and people of all ethnic groups in Phu Yen district continue to promote the dissemination of information and propaganda regarding Resolution No. 1280/NQ-UBTVQH15 of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, especially the regulations and guidelines on the State's policies on the rearrangement of district and commune-level administrative units, so that cadres, Party members, and the people understand clearly, actively implement it in consensus, and achieve the highest possible results. He also urged the prompt consolidation of the organizational structure of the town and communes, making it streamlined, effective, and efficient; and the acceleration of administrative procedure reform, with solutions to improve state management, land management, and urban management.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Son La province also requested the Party Committee and the government of Phu Yen district to pay special attention to the plan and roadmap for arranging, assigning, and resolving the entitlements and policies for redundant officials and civil servants; and to have a plan for arranging and allocating office buildings and public assets rationally, ensuring the necessary conditions for the operation of Quang Huy town and the communes in the area.

Furthermore, by leveraging its internal strengths, potential, and advantages in terms of geographical location, natural landscape, history, and unique traditional cultural values, Phu Yen should proactively overcome challenges and seize opportunities to become a destination for a large number of tourists from within and outside the province. At the same time, it should continue to maintain the conditions already recognized as a tourist destination; effectively implement Resolution No. 41/2022/NQ-HĐND dated August 31, 2022, of the Provincial People's Council stipulating a number of policies to support tourism development in the province for the period 2022-2026…
Immediately following the announcement ceremony, the art program "Colors of Phu Hoa - Convergence and Development" took place. The program featured spectacular singing and dancing performances praising the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, the renewal and development of the homeland, the country, Son La province, Phu Yen district, and the beautiful cultural characteristics of the ethnic minorities.
