In 2023, with the attention and support of all levels and sectors, the close direction of the Provincial Party Committee and the People's Committee of Son La province; the solidarity and efforts of the District Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and the people of all ethnic groups in Sop Cop district, the socio-economic situation of Sop Cop district continued to develop in all fields. The cooperative relationship between Sop Cop district, Son La province with Phon Thoong district, Luong Pha Bang province and Muong Son district, Muong Et district, Hua Phan province has been increasingly consolidated and developed. Armed forces units performing tasks on the border between the two countries (Vietnam - Laos) have strictly controlled exit and entry activities; export and import on the entire border in the district. From October 2022 to present, the functional forces of Sop Cop district have coordinated bilateral patrols with Muong Et district 4 times; Coordinated bilateral patrols with Muong Son district 3 times; coordinated bilateral patrols with Phon Thoong district 4 times. Through the border patrol work, the national border markers remained intact, no violations or signs of encroachment on the border markers were detected. The districts actively coordinated in the fight against crime in general and drug-related crimes in particular, arresting 3 cases and 3 subjects (2 citizens from Muong Xum cluster, 1 citizen from Nam Cuong cluster, Muong Et district, Hua Phan province, Lao PDR) for illegal drug trafficking. Coordinate the implementation of the Sop Cop Joint Exercise Plan - 2023. Cooperate with the Border Guard force of Phon Thoong district to film a video serving the "Joint Exercise to prevent illegal immigration and illegal entry and exit across the Vietnam - Laos border between the Border Guard Command of Son La province/Vietnam and the Military Command of Luong Pha Bang province/Laos in the border area between Sop Cop district and Phon Thoong district. In addition, the districts have regularly organized visits and congratulated each other on holidays and New Year, contributing to consolidating and strengthening the special solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

To continue promoting the achieved results, in 2024, the districts agreed to continue promoting propaganda and education for people in the border areas about the Agreement on the Regulations on Border Management and National Border Gates of Vietnam - Laos; Protocol on the Vietnam - Laos Border Line and Border Markers; the Party's guidelines and policies, and the laws of the two States on border work. Continue to coordinate more closely in the work of grasping the situation in the border areas, regularly exchanging information to promptly resolve incidents in order to stabilize security and order in the border areas. Strengthen joint patrols to protect the safety of the border system and border markers; prevent and promptly and effectively handle possible incidents such as: buying, selling, storing, transporting narcotics; illegal study and proselytizing; free migration; illegal encroachment, encroachment, and border crossing; prevention of natural disasters and epidemics in the border areas; timely notification when there are epidemics in humans, crops, and livestock. Maintain the organization of district-level meetings with districts; commune-level meetings with clusters of villages; police, military, and border forces. and rotate the meeting location. Continue to encourage the exchange of goods between the people of the two districts in accordance with the laws of Vietnam and Laos. Sop Cop district continues to create conditions for people of border villages and officials of Muong Et district, Muong Son district and Phon Thoong district to visit the Health Stations of communes in the border area and Sop Cop district General Hospital for medical examination and treatment. Expenses such as medicine, living expenses, hospital fees... are implemented according to current regulations of Vietnam and Son La province./.
