In 2024, despite facing numerous difficulties, especially unpredictable weather patterns, heavy rains, and landslides causing serious damage, agricultural and forestry production activities in Son La province still achieved many positive results.
Typically, the province's agricultural output for export is estimated at over 175,000 tons, an increase of 1.6% compared to 2023; the value of agricultural goods for export is estimated at 190 million USD, an increase of 6.9% compared to the previous year. Of this, the value of coffee is estimated at over 90 million USD; tea at nearly 22 million USD; cassava starch at over 36 million USD; longan and mango at nearly 30 million USD…

Son La mango exports are expected to reach nearly $10 million USD in 2024.
According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of the Son La Provincial People's Committee, this result was achieved thanks to the province's effective trade promotion of agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products; supporting businesses and cooperatives in the area to display and introduce OCOP products and safe agricultural products in many localities, such as the Northwest Region Trade Fair 2024 in Dien Bien province; the series of trade promotion and import-export development events in the Northern Midlands and Mountains in Lao Cai city; participating in exhibitions, promotions, and introductions of Son La province's agricultural products at the Saigon Co.op distribution system organized in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi... Along with that, the province continued to promote and introduce agricultural products on e-commerce platforms.

People and businesses in Son La are stepping up efforts to introduce, promote, and sell their fruit products on e-commerce platforms.
“People and businesses selling on e-commerce platforms are doing almost better than traditional sales, so Son La has strongly and comprehensively promoted this method with many decisive solutions. In addition, the locality has closely coordinated with import-export businesses to build brands, promote and maintain them. Currently, Son La plums are exported to many countries; mangoes, longan and dragon fruit have also been exported to South Korea, Japan, Mongolia… so the locality is planning to export other products such as strawberries and other products in 2024,” Mr. Cong informed.
