Phieng Ngua people unanimously build new rural areas

In the last days of the year, we had the opportunity to visit Phieng Ngua village, Chieng Xom commune, Son La city - one of the model rural villages of Son La city that has just been recognized. Just a few decades ago, Phieng Ngua village was still facing many difficulties, and people's lives were still limited.

However, since the implementation of the new rural construction, all villagers have contributed their efforts, labor, and donated land to build the new rural area. Up to now, the rural appearance of Phieng Ngua village has changed a lot, and the lives of the villagers have been improved.

The road to Phieng Ngua village is paved with smooth concrete, along both sides of the road are flower gardens of all colors, creating a scene of a peaceful, livable highland village. For Mr. Lo Van May, who is nearly 70 years old this year, born and raised in Phieng Ngua village, perhaps he is the one who understands the changes in Phieng Ngua village today the most.

Mr. May shared: Phieng Ngua village a few decades ago was difficult and hard. In the morning, villagers carried hoes to the fields, and in the afternoon, they carried bundles of firewood or some vegetables and cassava to cook for the pigs. Villagers mainly depended on growing corn and cassava in the fields; livestock was raised on a small scale, and the income of households was not much, so hunger and poverty were all around.

"In recent years, especially since the new rural development program, the people in our village have completely changed. Everyone has boldly developed the economy, applied scientific advances to cultivating crops to increase income, now there are no more poor households in the village. Our children can go to school, go to class, many people in the village have grown up and become officials. Recently, our village was recognized as a model rural village, everyone is excited," said Mr. May.

Recognized as a model new rural village, not only Mr. May, but also the people of Phieng Ngua village are happy and excited to be born and raised in this land. Ms. Tong Thi Hac, Phieng Ngua village, Chieng Xom commune, Son La city shared: When the policy of building new rural areas was introduced to the village, and was promoted by all levels and sectors, we understood that building new rural areas is to make people's lives better. All the villagers believed and followed, some contributed their efforts and money, some donated land to build new rural areas.

"We villagers encourage each other to raise awareness of environmental protection. Every weekend we clean up the village roads and alleys together, plant flowers together, and create a green, clean, and beautiful landscape for the village. We are very happy to be recognized as a model new rural village," said Ms. Hac.

Phieng Ngua - Model new rural village

Mr. Lo Van Viet, Party Cell Secretary, Head of Phieng Ngua Village, said: Phieng Ngua Village is about 1km from the center of Chieng Xom Commune. The village has a natural area of ​​116 hectares, adjacent to provincial road 279D with 125 households and 470 people. The Party Cell has 41 party members including 4 ethnic groups living together. The agricultural land area of ​​the village is 5.6 hectares and 39 hectares of project forest 661, the rest is forestry land, rocky mountains and other types of land. People in the village mainly live on farming, raising livestock and some service activities.

Implementing the model new rural village with criteria of landscape and quality of living environment, up to now, the roads have been planted with trees and shade trees; the drainage system has been invested in construction, the canals have been cleaned, dredged, and cleared, there is no phenomenon of domestic wastewater stagnation in residential areas and waste in drainage canals.

Households and individuals engaged in production and business in the village collect, classify, reuse and treat waste to meet environmental protection requirements as prescribed. The village has drainage ditches along the roads, ensuring the drainage of domestic wastewater and livestock wastewater.

Up to now, 100% of Phieng Ngua village's main roads have been concreted; average income per capita has reached 57.5 million VND/year. The village has no poor households, no temporary houses, no dilapidated houses; security and order are guaranteed; the landscape of the alleys is bright, clean, and beautiful; garbage collection is guaranteed at the right place... This is the first village in the City to achieve the title of model new rural village in terms of landscape and quality of living environment.

To maintain the targets and criteria of new rural villages and model new rural villages in terms of landscape and quality of living environment, Phieng Ngua village continues to strive to achieve other model new rural contents in terms of production organization and economic development; tourism; culture; rural digital transformation.

Promote the village's art troupe to perform traditional cultural and artistic performances in the community to attract tourists to visit and experience.
