(sonlatv.vn) - On the morning of December 26th, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, chaired an inter-agency consultation meeting to resolve difficulties and obstacles and to finalize the content for announcing the list of authorized secondary border gates for buying, selling, and exchanging goods in Son La province.
The Na Cai sub-border gate is a border crossing located in Na Cai village, Chieng On commune, Yen Chau district, connecting with the Sop Dung border gate in Sop Dung village, Xieng Kho district, Hua Phan province, Lao People's Democratic Republic; the Provincial Border Guard Command has invested in the construction of a two-story office building and auxiliary facilities.
The Nam Lanh sub-border gate is located in Nam Lanh commune, Sop Cop district, and connects with the Muong Po border gate in Muong Son district, Hua Phan province, Lao People's Democratic Republic; it is currently a temporary structure and is expected to be rebuilt in 2025.
At the Na Cai and Nam Lanh sub-border gates, the main import and export activities involve the buying and selling of agricultural products, agricultural supplies, medicinal herbs, and construction materials between the people on both sides of the border, with a volume of approximately over 14,000 tons per year. Currently, both sub-border gates are only staffed by border guards and officers who also handle plant quarantine and foreign affairs. Because the list of sub-border gates authorized for import and export has not yet been published, the Customs agency has not deployed personnel to enforce regulations; nor have relevant agencies deployed personnel for animal and plant quarantine or medical quarantine. To address the difficulties and obstacles in import and export activities and promote border trade, the Department of Industry and Trade has proposed the official designation of the Na Cai and Nam Lanh sub-border gates as authorized for import and export.
Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Nguyen Thanh Cong instructed the Department of Industry and Trade to take the lead in advising the Provincial People's Committee to issue a document seeking opinions from ministries and agencies on the announcement that the two sub-border gates of Na Cai and Nam Lanh meet the conditions for conducting trade and exchange of goods. Relevant departments and agencies should expedite the process of advising on the issuance of a Decision approving the scope of the Na Cai sub-border gate area in Yen Chau district; research and develop a plan, and advise the Provincial People's Committee to consult with central ministries and agencies to ensure the necessary conditions regarding infrastructure, personnel allocation, and authorization for external quarantine work. Road motor vehicles from Son La and Hua Phan provinces should be allowed to transport people and goods through the sub-border gates in the province according to regulations.
