On December 31st, the People's Committee of Yen Chau district held a ceremony to honor athlete Quang Thi Thu Nghia for winning the Gold Medal in Pencak Silat at the 20th World Pencak Silat Championships, held from December 19th to 22nd at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, United Arab Emirates.
The district leaders presented flowers to congratulate athlete Quàng Thị Thu Nghĩa.
Athlete Quàng Thị Thu Nghĩa, born in 1999, from Tô Pang village, Chiềng Pằn commune, Yên Châu district, has had a passion for sports since childhood. In 2017, Nghĩa participated in national Pencak Silat competitions and won a Gold Medal. Athlete Quàng Thị Thu Nghĩa has made significant contributions to the overall achievements of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation at various tournaments, winning two Gold Medals at the 31st and 32nd SEA Games; four consecutive Gold Medals at the Asian Championships in 2018, 2019, 2022, and 2023; and four Gold Medals at the World Championships in 2018, 2019, 2022, and 2024.
At the ceremony, the leaders of Yen Chau district acknowledged, presented flowers, and congratulated athlete Quang Thi Thu Nghia on her achievements. She is one of the outstanding athletes of Vietnamese sports, and also contributes to promoting the image and people of Son La province in general, and Yen Chau district in particular, to friends both domestically and internationally.
