Overview of the press conference

According to Plan, Program“The Vietnam - Laos Special Friendship Festival 2023 will take place from November 11 to 15, 2023 at the Cinema Culture Center, Thua Thien Hue province.

At the regular press conference on November 6, 2023 of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Lam said that in recent years, Vietnam and Laos have cooperated in many fields, including information and communications, and have had many successful cooperation models.

Within the framework of the program "Vietnam - Laos Special Friendship Festival 2023", the scientific seminar with the theme "Prospects of Vietnam - Laos press and media cooperation: Challenges and solutions" taking place on November 11, 2023 is an opportunity for the two sides to share and learn from each other about experiences in social management, cyberspace management, and digital transformation of the press. In the near future, the two countries will organize training sessions to share experiences in identifying and responding to fake news, digital transformation of the press, and promoting the national image through the Foreign Information Portal.

According to Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Lam, Thua Thien - Hue is a leading locality in digital transformation, changing the method of providing public services and social governance thanks to digital technology, and is a successful model in digital transformation.

Regarding specific information about the activities of the Program "Vietnam - Laos Special Friendship Festival 2023", Mr. Dinh Tien Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of External Information, Ministry of Information and Communications, said that there will be many meaningful events, demonstrating the strong friendship between the people of the two countries, such as: Photo Exhibition, Fair - Exhibition, Scientific Seminar and Vietnam - Laos Art Exchange Night.

Mr. Dinh Tien Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Information, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee, introduced the program "Vietnam - Laos Special Friendship Festival 2023"

The photo exhibition with a total of 200 photos, is divided into 4 topics: History of 61 years of special friendship between Vietnam and Laos; Vietnam and Laos on the path of development; Outstanding achievements in Vietnam - Laos cooperation in the field of information and communication; Thua Thien Hue accompanying the country's development.

* The Fair - Exhibition with more than 50 booths, organized with the highlight being the booths of Vietnam News Agency, Nhan Dan Newspaper, Voice of Vietnam Radio... with information publications, media programs in Lao language. In addition, there is also the companionship of information technology and telecommunications enterprises such as Viettel, VNPT, VTC; enterprises operating in the fields of tourism, trade... with typical OCOP products of Hue and the provinces and cities of the Central region.

* The scientific seminar with the theme "Prospects of Vietnam - Laos press and media cooperation: Challenges and solutions" is an opportunity for speakers from both countries to discuss journalism, digital transformation trends in press and media as well as the role of information and propaganda in promoting trade and increasing investment between the two countries.

* In addition to specialized events, there will be cultural and artistic exchange activities between the people of Vietnam and Laos, especially between the ethnic people of Thua Thien Hue province and the two provinces of Salavan and Sekong, between Vietnamese students and Lao students living and studying in Hue.

Regarding the participants of the Program, the Vietnamese side will have leaders of the Ministry of Information and Communications; leaders of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province; leaders of the People's Committees of Vietnamese provinces bordering Laos; representatives of central agencies and departments; representatives of departments, agencies, and border districts; leaders of the Departments of Information and Communications of provinces bordering Laos, and a large number of Vietnamese reporters from central and local press agencies.

On the Lao side, there were representatives from the Lao Embassy in Vietnam; the Lao Consulate in Da Nang; leaders of the Lao Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism; reporters from the Lao News Agency (KPL) and Lao reporters from Salavan and Sekong provinces.

The program "Vietnam - Laos Special Friendship Day 2023" continues to enhance the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos./.
