Overview of the press conference

According to the Plan, Program"The "Vietnam - Laos Special Friendship Festival 2023" will take place from November 11th to 15th, 2023 at the Cultural and Cinema Center, Thua Thien Hue province.

At the Ministry of Information and Communications' regular press conference on November 6, 2023, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Lam stated that over the years, Vietnam and Laos have cooperated in many fields, including information and communication, and have developed many successful cooperation models.

Within the framework of the "Vietnam-Laos Special Friendship Day 2023" program, a scientific seminar on the theme "Prospects for Vietnam-Laos Media Cooperation: Challenges and Solutions," held on November 11, 2023, provided an opportunity for both sides to share and learn from each other's experiences in social management, cyberspace management, and digital transformation in journalism. In the near future, the two countries will organize training sessions to share experiences in identifying and responding to fake news, digital transformation in journalism, and promoting national images through the Foreign Affairs Information Portal.

According to Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Lam, Thua Thien Hue is a leading locality in digital transformation, changing the method of providing public services and the method of social governance thanks to digital technology, and is a successful model in digital transformation.

Regarding specific information about the activities of the "Vietnam - Laos Special Friendship Festival 2023" program, Mr. Dinh Tien Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of External Information, Ministry of Information and Communications, said that there will be many significant events demonstrating the strong friendship between the people of the two countries, such as: Photo exhibitions, trade fairs and exhibitions, scientific seminars and a Vietnam - Laos art exchange night.

Mr. Dinh Tien Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of External Information and Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Organizing Board, introduced the program "Vietnam - Laos Special Friendship Festival 2023".

The photo exhibition features a total of 200 photographs, divided into four themes: The 61-year history of the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos; Vietnam and Laos on the path of development; outstanding achievements in Vietnam-Laos cooperation in the field of information and communication; and Thua Thien Hue accompanying the development of the country.

* The fair and exhibition features over 50 booths, with a highlight being the booths of the Vietnam News Agency, Nhan Dan Newspaper, Voice of Vietnam Radio, etc., showcasing information publications and media programs in the Lao language. In addition, it is supported by information technology and telecommunications businesses such as Viettel, VNPT, VTC; and businesses operating in the tourism and trade sectors… with characteristic OCOP products from Hue and other provinces and cities in Central Vietnam.

* The scientific seminar on the theme "Prospects for Vietnam-Laos Media Cooperation: Challenges and Solutions" provided an opportunity for speakers from both countries to exchange views on journalistic practices, digital transformation trends in journalism and media, and the role of information and communication in promoting trade and increasing investment between the two countries.

* In addition to specialized events, there will be cultural and artistic exchanges between the people of Vietnam and Laos, especially between the people of Thua Thien Hue province and the provinces of Salavan and Sekong, and between Vietnamese and Lao students living and studying in Hue.

Regarding the participants in the Program, the Vietnamese side will include leaders from the Ministry of Information and Communications; leaders from the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province; leaders from the People's Committees of Vietnamese provinces bordering Laos; representatives from central agencies and departments; representatives from departments, agencies, and border districts; leaders from the Departments of Information and Communications of provinces bordering Laos, along with a large number of Vietnamese journalists from central and local media agencies.

On the Lao side, attendees included representatives from the Lao Embassy in Vietnam; the Lao Consulate in Da Nang; leaders from the Lao Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism; reporters from the Lao News Agency (KPL); and Lao reporters from the provinces of Salavan and Sekong.

The "Vietnam - Laos Special Friendship Festival 2023" program further enhances the traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
