(baosonla.vn) - Closely following the assigned tasks, the Department of Foreign Affairs synchronously deploys all aspects of foreign affairs, contributing to maintaining and expanding cooperative relations between Son La province and embassies of other countries and international organizations in Vietnam; strengthening the special solidarity, friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Son La province and the provinces of Laos.
Muong La district, Son La province and Muong La district, Oudomxay province (Lao PDR) signed a cooperation agreement.
Up to now, Son La province has friendly relations and comprehensive cooperation with 9/18 provinces and cities of Laos; has cooperative relations with 20 diplomatic representative agencies in Vietnam; there are 31 foreign non-governmental organizations with funding activities for Son La province. Mr. Nguyen Van May, Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs, informed: As a key agency in advising and organizing the implementation of foreign affairs activities of the province, the Department proactively advises, proposes and concretizes cooperation areas; actively advises and organizes delegation exchanges at all levels; exchange activities, cooperation, experience exchange in the fields of economics, education, health, agriculture... with other countries and 9 provinces of Laos.
Carrying out border work, during the year, the Department of Staff of the Provincial People's Committee deployed the planning of border gates on the Vietnam - Laos land border for the period of 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050; prepared content and procedures to organize regular border meetings with Hua Phan and Luang Prabang provinces (Lao PDR). Advised and contributed to the successful organization of the ceremony to announce the opening of the Long Sap (Son La) - Pa Hang (Hua Phan) international border gate pair; organized the inspection and maintenance of boundary markers, and embellished the landscape architecture of the Long Sap - Pa Hang border gate area.
At the same time, proactively review, urge and coordinate with relevant agencies to implement the implementation of delegations in and out according to plan. From December 2023 to December 2024, the Department advised the competent authorities of the province to send 102 delegations and 1,018 people on business trips abroad; welcomed 132 delegations and 1,057 people from abroad to the province. The work of advising on organizing delegations in and out was carried out promptly, ensuring solemnity and thoughtfulness according to regulations on diplomatic protocol and suitable to the actual conditions of the province.
Currently, the Department of Foreign Affairs is also a bridge between Son La province and international organizations and individuals, helping to expand cooperation and development relationships in the fields of economy, culture, health, education, and security, such as: Coordinating the development and implementation of the Project on training intermediate political theory levels for officials in 9 provinces of the Lao PDR and the Plan for enrollment, training at graduate, university, college, intermediate levels and training Vietnamese for international students in the provinces of the Lao PDR in the 2024-2025 school year. Coordinating with the Department of Planning and Investment to appraise and receive 10 programs, projects, and aid with a total committed value of over 4.8 million USD...
With more than 10 years of cooperation, Muong La district, Son La province and Muong La district, Udomxay province, regularly organize working delegations to hold talks, exchange experiences, sign working minutes, and help each other in socio-economic development. Mr. Nguyen Van Tam, Vice Chairman of Muong La District People's Committee, said: In recent years, the two districts have sent working delegations to take turns to unify cooperation programs; promote propaganda on foreign cooperation, strengthen the building of the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos, evaluate the results of cooperation between the two districts, and meet the political - economic - social development tasks of each side.
With the determination to complete the task well and promote the achieved results, the Department of Foreign Affairs continues to do a good job of advising the province to synchronously deploy foreign affairs solutions, contributing to expanding relations, promoting cooperation, and advancing in the integration and development process.
