"Springtime at the border, warming the hearts of the people" not only brings joy to the people in border areas, but also to the border guards. It's a joy to share and express gratitude to the people – the "extended arms" that have accompanied the border guards in protecting national sovereignty and border security.
On the eve of the Lunar New Year, at the Chieng Khuong Border Gate Joint Control Station, Song Ma District, Son La Province, the Son La Provincial Border Guard Command, in coordination with the Son La Provincial Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Vietnam Journalists Association, and other sponsoring units, organized the "Warm and Loving Tet, Warm Spring for Border Guards and Local People in 2025" program.
As part of the program, 1,000 Tet holiday gift packages were distributed by various organizations to poor and near-poor households in the four border communes of Muong Cai.
Leaders of Son La province and the Son La Border Guard Command presented the national flag and portraits of President Ho Chi Minh to 21 villages in Chieng Khuong border commune, Song Ma district, Son La province.
Leaders of various units presented gifts to disadvantaged families in Muong Et district, Hua Phan province, Lao People's Democratic Republic.
Along with that, there are Tet gifts for families entitled to preferential policies and those who have rendered meritorious services in the border area.
Organize "zero-cost" stalls for the public and give gifts to poor and near-poor households.
As part of the program, people from border villages participated in a competition to wrap banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes).
The participating units provided eye examinations and specialist consultations for hundreds of people and students in the border region.
Military medical officers at the Chiềng Khương border gate post provide health advice to local residents.

Traditional folk games attracted a large number of officers, soldiers, and civilians to participate and interact.
Earlier, a vibrant cultural exchange night took place, fostering a strong bond between the military and the local people.
Colonel Vu Duc Tu, Deputy Political Commissar of the Son La Border Guard Command, shared: "Every time Tet (Lunar New Year) comes around, we are extremely happy to be part of this warm atmosphere. We think that this is not only a joy for the people in the border areas, but also a joy for us – the border guards. It is a sharing and an expression of gratitude to the people, the 'extended arm' that has accompanied the border guards in protecting national sovereignty and border security."
