In response to activities celebrating the Lunar New Year and commemorating the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025), on the morning of February 1st (the 4th day of the Lunar New Year), at the Northwest Square, Son La city organized the "Spring Festival to Honor Uncle Ho" to celebrate the Party and the Year of the Snake 2025.

Attending the event were comrades: Ha Trung Chien, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, and Chairman of the City People's Council; Hoang Ngan Hoan, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; and other city leaders. The program mobilized over 1,000 artisans, athletes, and amateur performers from the city's communes and wards, along with a large number of people and tourists who came to watch and cheer.

Before the opening ceremony, the city's leadership team offered incense and flowers at the Monument of President Ho Chi Minh with the people of the Northwest ethnic groups and the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Temple in Northwest Square; reporting to President Ho Chi Minh on the outstanding achievements in economic, social, national defense, and security development of the city in the past year, with the impressive achievement of Son La city being inscribed by UNESCO into the "Global Learning Cities" network. The City Party Committee successfully completed its tasks in 2024 and has achieved outstanding performance for five consecutive years. Before the sacred spirit of the great President Ho Chi Minh, cadres, Party members, and people of all ethnic groups in Son La city pledged to study and follow his thoughts, ethics, and style throughout their lives, striving to build a clean, strong, and comprehensive City Party Committee, contributing to building a green, rapid, and sustainable development of Son La province.

Under the beautiful sunny weather, the folk dance competition received enthusiastic support from the local people and tourists. Twelve teams participated in the competition. Coming from communes and wards throughout the city, each team brought a unique performance to the Spring Festival, meticulously and elaborately staged with impressive music, with themes praising the homeland and country, and honoring traditional culture.

Each performance featured a minimum of 60 participants, creating a vibrant and exciting group performance that brought a lively atmosphere to the spring festival, attracting a large audience who came to watch and cheer.

The "Spring Festival dedicated to Uncle Ho" also includes sports activities and competitions in traditional folk games such as Tó mák lẹ, tung còn, and stilt walking.

"Spring Festival Dedicated to Uncle Ho" is an activity that the city has maintained and organized annually. Over the years, the spring festival has become an ideal gathering place at the beginning of each new year, with many vibrant activities honoring traditional cultural values, arousing national pride, and fostering a sense of responsibility within the community regarding the preservation and promotion of national cultural identity. The spring festival has also become a special spiritual treat for people of all ethnic groups during the Lunar New Year, a meaningful reunion at the beginning of the year, creating a joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere, motivating and encouraging cadres, Party members, and the people of Son La city to participate in patriotic emulation movements, actively engage in production, unite, and resolutely achieve the socio-economic development goals for 2025.

At the conclusion of the competitions, the Organizing Committee awarded 5 first prizes, 6 second prizes, 8 third prizes, and 6 consolation prizes to the winning teams in each category. Specifically, the first prize in the throwing game went to Chiềng Sinh ward, the first prize in the tó mák lẹ game went to Hua La commune, the first prize in the stilt walking competition (men's and women's categories) went to Chiềng Đen commune, and the first prize in the folk dance competition went to Chiềng An ward.
