Paintings depicting spring have made a strong impression on the public.
Visiting and extending New Year greetings to the family of artist Lo An Quang, a member of the Fine Arts Branch of the Provincial Union of Literature and Arts Associations, in the early days of the new spring, we shared in his joy as his work "Stories of the Village, Stories of the Muong" won the A prize at the Northwest - Viet Bac Fine Arts Exhibition 2024.
Artist Lo An Quang shared: "Each artist has a different perspective on spring, which then influences the ideas incorporated into their artwork. But they all share a common goal: to direct their works towards beautiful, fresh, and vibrant values. My creations on the theme of spring often depict images of villages, portraits, and the productive activities of ethnic people… In them, I convey ideas about the spring in people's hearts, the spring of a prosperous life."

Artist Lo An Quang and his family and friends stand beside his artwork that won the A prize at the Northwest - Viet Bac Fine Arts Exhibition 2024.
The artwork "Stories of the Village, Stories of the Muong Region," rendered in lacquer, brings a simple springtime feel to the highland villages of Northwest Vietnam, with the highlight being the Thai ethnic women diligently spinning and weaving yarn beside their traditional stilt houses.
In music, spring often brings cheerful, romantic melodies, full of aspirations for life. Throughout history, Son La's music has produced many songs about spring that have touched the hearts of generations of the public, from legendary works such as "Welcoming Spring" and "Spring Comes to Ban Co" by the late composer Cam Bich, and "Son La, Spring Returns" by Dang An Nguyen..., to new compositions such as "Son La, a Spring Love Song" by Le Hong Chuong; "City of Bauhinia Flowers" by Bui Khac Bao, "Son La Spring Love" by Thanh Hieu, and "Son La, Land of Love" by Tran Duc Thanh... These songs are full of the fresh breath of spring in the homeland, expressed through vivid and artistic lyrics, and are widely accepted and loved by audiences.
Composer Tran Van Quang, Head of the Provincial Music Association, shared: The Provincial Music Association has 31 members, and over the past five years, they have composed more than 100 new musical works, mostly songs about Son La. Spring is considered the "composition season" because many songs were created during this time. Many works on the theme of spring have been highly praised professionally and won top prizes at national and provincial music and art competitions. Music not only makes life more beautiful but also contributes to promoting and introducing the image, beauty, culture, and people of Son La to friends and tourists.

The theme of spring in paintings is expressed by artists from their own unique perspectives.
Other art forms such as poetry, literature, dance, photography, and theater also have hundreds of high-quality works on the theme of spring. In each work, every artist from Son La expresses their emotions, experiences, and feelings in response to the beauty of their homeland.
Poet Luong My Hanh, from the Literature and Arts Association of Muong La District, shared: "At the beginning of 2024, I released my poetry collection 'Returning to Muong Lum,' consisting of 20 poems. These are my thoughts and feelings about the changes in my hometown where I was born and raised, interspersed with nostalgic memories of my beautiful childhood. A person's life may experience many springs, but the most beautiful spring is the spring in the soul. When there is faith and love, it means that spring will last forever, always beckoning us forward and towards a better future."
As 2024 draws to a close, Son La province has achieved many notable milestones in socio-economic development, along with significant political and cultural events. These rich themes provide ample material for the province's artists to explore and create high-quality works of art, reflecting the faith and aspirations for progress of the homeland, the country, and its people.
Artist Le Chuong, Chairman of the Provincial Union of Literature and Arts Associations, shared: "The Spring of the Year of the Snake 2025 is a time when the entire Party, army, and people are enthusiastically looking forward to celebrating the Party Congress at all levels. The Provincial Union of Literature and Arts Associations has launched a creative competition among all members of its branches. It encourages artists to create works on themes with depth, reflecting the outstanding achievements of the Provincial Party Committee during the term; the effectiveness of the Party's directives and resolutions in life; and the people's trust in the Party,..."
The vitality of spring is an endless source of inspiration, always fresh and intact, allowing artists to freely create and bring to art lovers beautiful, emotionally rich, and authentic works about life.
