Son La High School for the Gifted honors students who won prizes at the national excellent student competition for the 2023-2024 school year.

In the last days of the year, the team of excellent students at Son La High School for the Gifted is still working hard, determined to achieve high results in the national excellent student exam held in early 2025. Teacher Dang Thu Hien, who guides the team in geography, commented: The students are trained in basic knowledge early; learn about specialized topics and knowledge; participate in guest lectures, approach experts and leading professors of the subject and are determined to achieve the best results.

Teacher Pham Thi Thuan, Principal of Son La High School for the Gifted, said: Achieving high results in the exam shows the province's leading quality of education. The school selects experienced and highly qualified teachers to train students. Organizing many assessment and experience-sharing exams for teachers and students, creating good conditions for students to achieve high results.

In Son La city, last school year, 164 students won third prize or higher in the provincial science and technology competitions for excellent secondary students, national and international online competitions. Maintaining a solid position as one of the leading units in the province in the provincial excellent student selection competition, contributing to the city being listed in the global network of learning cities.

Currently, the province has 610 schools from kindergarten to high school, with over 375,000 students and more than 23,000 teachers. Improving the quality of education is always a concern of our province. The Provincial People's Council has issued Resolution No. 124/2019/NQ-HDND on policies to encourage improving the quality of teaching and learning in education and training activities. There are mechanisms and policies to support and encourage students to achieve high results in exams. Every school year, the organization commends and honors students, groups of authors who have won awards, teachers whose students have won awards at national, provincial, district and city levels. Before each exam, meetings are held to encourage teams and teachers with material and spiritual support.

From the policies of the province and the major orientation of the education sector is to focus on key education along with comprehensive education for students, the Department of Education and Training always pays attention to building a team of managers and teachers in terms of quality and capacity; building a team of core teachers to train excellent students at all levels. Innovating the method of selecting and nurturing excellent students, ensuring the transition between levels. Investing in facilities and equipment to serve the teaching and training of the excellent student team; serving scientific research. Educational institutions have promoted the emulation movement "Innovation and creativity in teaching and learning"; selecting and sending student delegations to participate in many intellectual playgrounds, exchanges, and competitions at all levels.

In the last 3 school years, 41 students won national excellent student awards; the number of awards each year increased compared to the previous year; the number of high schools with excellent students winning awards is increasing. At the 20th National Youth and Children's Creativity Competition in 2024, 2 consolation prizes were won. The high school graduation rate in 2024 reached 99.84%. The provincial high school excellent student exam had 1,202 students winning awards; at the secondary school level, 811 students won awards. Successfully organized a science and technology competition for high school students, of which 105/201 projects were selected to participate in the final round, recognizing 93 winning projects; selected 2 national competition projects (1 project won the promising award).

Mr. Nguyen Huy Hoang, Director of the Department of Education and Training, said: Promoting the achieved results, the Department continues to advise the province on policies and mechanisms to build and perfect the system of high-quality educational schools in 12 districts and cities. At the same time, advise on perfecting the development strategy of Son La Specialized High School for the period 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030, with the goal of becoming a high-quality specialized school, with a modern educational environment on par with leading high schools in the country and the region. Promote the emulation movement "Teach well, learn well", improve the quality of comprehensive education, and spearhead quality.
