Construction of national grid electricity to rural areas.

How can we not be happy when welcoming the new year, in addition to 30 households in Tong Han village, the whole province has 6,603 households, mainly in remote, mountainous, border and extremely difficult areas, provided with electricity from the national grid. This is the effort and drastic direction of the province, the participation of functional sectors, local authorities and Son La Electricity Company in implementing the policy of bringing national grid electricity to rural areas of the province.

Mr. Cam Van Khiem, 85 years old this year, 65 years of Party membership in Tan Hop village, Na Nghiu commune, Song Ma district, still does not believe that the national grid has been brought to his house. Mr. Khiem said: The village has nearly 200 households, but most of them live in the lowlands along National Highway 4G, while a group of 17 households have lived in the high mountains for 30 years without electricity, and the road up is both steep and not yet paved with concrete, so life is still very difficult. With the attention of the Party and the State, the day the national grid was brought to the village, the people were as happy as a festival, every household contributed money to buy a big cow to slaughter to celebrate.

Bringing the national grid to rural areas is a major policy that the Party and Government pay special attention to, aiming to create a breakthrough in realizing the goals of agricultural industrialization, rural modernization, hunger eradication, poverty reduction, and ensuring social security. To implement the project of supplying electricity to rural areas from the national grid, in 2024, our province has allocated 191 billion VND from the budget. Of which, the rural electricity supply sub-project from the national grid invested by the Department of Industry and Trade is nearly 80 billion VND, the project invested by districts is more than 105 billion VND and the Electricity sector invests in developing new meters is 6.5 billion VND.

To ensure the project is implemented on schedule, the Provincial Steering Committee for the Rural Electrification Program has directed sectors, districts and cities to coordinate with the electricity sector to review and evaluate the situation and progress of implementation. At the same time, capital sources from national target programs and other budget sources are integrated to implement the rural electrification sub-project from the national grid for villages without electricity and to upgrade electricity for households using unsafe electricity. Localities in the province have mobilized other capital sources to implement 23 projects, with a total capital of more than 78 billion VND, providing electricity to 2,057 households. In addition, the Project on resettlement of residents in disaster areas has allocated capital to implement 11 projects, providing electricity to 415 households in disaster-affected areas in the province.

In addition, the districts have directed communes and villages to propagate and mobilize people to donate land, clear the site and create favorable conditions for contractors during the construction process. However, because most of the packages are implemented in complex terrain, especially during the rainy season, the transportation of electric poles, supplies and materials is extremely difficult. Mr. Dinh Khac Nhat, Director of Phuc Thinh Tay Bac Company Limited, the contractor of a number of packages in Song Ma and Bac Yen districts, shared: The unit regularly receives attention from investors and local authorities, so many difficulties and problems are promptly resolved. In particular, the support of the people in the villages helps the unit arrange accommodation, gather materials and equipment, so the construction progress and electricity supply to each household are guaranteed according to the investor's plan.

Promoting responsibility for the lives of ethnic minorities "Leaving no one behind", with the drastic participation of authorities at all levels, investors and the spirit and responsibility of the Electricity sector, in 2024, the whole province completed providing new electricity to 6,603 households, raising the rate of households using the national grid to 99.5% and upgrading safe electricity for 3,878 households, the rate of households using safe electricity for daily life reached 96.9%.
