(sonla.gov.vn) With over 84,000 hectares of fruit trees and other characteristic agricultural and forestry products such as tea and coffee, and a target of achieving over 18,700 tons of fruit products for export in 2023; the export value is estimated at 25.26 million USD (an increase of 26.15% compared to 2022) according to Plan No. 302/KH-UBND dated December 28, 2022 of the Son La Provincial People's Committee on Exporting Son La Province's Goods in 2023 in an efficient and sustainable manner. Son La province always pays attention to developing the export market for agricultural products - promoting, marketing, and selling agricultural and forestry products in the province.
Son La province participated in displaying, introducing, and promoting agricultural products at the China-ASEAN Expo 2023 from September 15th to 19th, 2023.
From the beginning of the year, the province has organized and supported businesses and cooperatives to participate in trade promotion events such as: Safe agricultural and food product fairs and regional specialties; Fruit and agricultural product weeks of provinces and cities in Hanoi; Safe agricultural product week and introduction of Son La tourism products; Fruit and agricultural product weeks of provinces and cities in Hanoi; Son La Northwest agricultural product trade fair; Exhibition area promoting and introducing safe agricultural products of Son La province associated with the "Colors of Son La Northwest" program; Vietnam Fruit and OCOP product festival in 2022 and 2023...
Exhibitions, introductions, and promotions of OCOP products and safe agricultural products will be held at the following conferences: “Vietnam Academy of Agriculture accompanies businesses, cooperatives, and people for a green, clean, and safe agriculture”; the Ministry of National Defense-level scientific conference commemorating the 70th anniversary of the victory in Upper Laos from April 12, 1953 - April 13, 2023; the inauguration ceremony of the DOVECO vegetable and fruit processing plant in Mai Son on May 19, 2023; the Son La Province Cultural Tourism Festival “World's Leading Regional Natural Destination at Moc Chau National Tourist Area, 2023”; the 8th Congress of the Agricultural Sector Trade Union; and the China-ASEAN CAEXPO 2023 from September 15 to 19, 2023.
Continuing to expand export markets for the province's products, 17 agricultural products were exported and introduced to markets in 21 countries and territories (an increase of 5 countries compared to 2020). The total volume of agricultural exports in 2022 reached over 159,324 tons. Of which: Fruits accounted for over 18,524 tons; processed agricultural products and other agricultural products accounted for over 140,800 tons (including the main products: Longan 3,734 tons; Mangoes 9,080 tons; Bananas 4,500 tons; Tea 10,700 tons; Coffee 28,858 tons; Cassava starch 91,254 tons). In the first 9 months of 2023 (up to September 18, 2023), the entire province exported 11,345 tons of agricultural products, including: Mangoes 6,406 tons; Bananas: 3,432 tons; Longan: 950 tons; Passion fruit: 327 tons; Dragon fruit: 230 tons. Achieved 60.7% of the plan.
Son La province successfully organized the first Coffee Festival in 2023, creating opportunities to expand export markets for coffee and other agricultural products of the province.
Continue to call on businesses and investment units to build agricultural product preservation and processing plants, invest in expanding concentrated raw material production areas, and act as a hub connecting domestic and export markets for the province's key fruit products; Implement promotional and trade promotion activities for agricultural products with key tasks. Continue to provide information, forecasts, and market analysis for domestic and export markets to promptly provide businesses and cooperatives with guidance on production and business, and to ensure they understand regulations and product standards when consuming and exporting to international markets. Promote and publicize through local and central media outlets (newspapers, radio, etc.); through direct and online trade promotion conferences; and through product display and sales weeks. Maintain OCOP product sales points and safe agricultural product sales points.
Promote the development of e-commerce, organize training courses on e-commerce, and support businesses and cooperatives in participating in reputable domestic and international e-commerce platforms. Organize online programs (livestreaming)...; Implement the application of information technology and digital transformation in trade promotion activities in the province. Proactively work with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs... to request support for Son La province in expanding export markets to EU countries that have recently signed the Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) with Vietnam; Support Son La province in finding new markets and provide information on key agricultural import and export businesses in several markets around the world.
