Following President Ho Chi Minh's teaching, "For the benefit of ten years, plant trees; for the benefit of a hundred years, cultivate people," Son La province has always considered tree planting a crucial task, closely linked to the province's comprehensive development not only for today but also for the future. Therefore, at the beginning of each new spring, cadres, Party members, civil servants, and people of all ethnic groups in Son La province organize tree planting campaigns, initiating the annual tree planting movement. Localities and units throughout the province have actively responded, making it a beautiful cultural tradition that brings immense benefits in many aspects.

Speaking at the tree planting launch ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, emphasized: The "Tree Planting Festival in Eternal Gratitude to Uncle Ho" movement, held during the Lunar New Year of 2025, must be linked to effective forest management and protection; activities must be practical and effective, encouraging all levels, sectors, and resources from social mobilization, creating conditions for agencies, organizations, businesses, associations, armed forces, and the people to actively participate in forest planting. The goal is to complete and exceed the target for green tree planting in the 2021-2025 period, aiming to plant 14.2 million trees throughout the province; including 5 million scattered trees and 9.2 million trees planted in concentrated forests within protection, special-use, and production forests.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee urged Party committees, government agencies, departments, the Fatherland Front, political and social organizations, localities, and all citizens to enthusiastically participate in tree planting and reforestation; everyone should plant trees, every household should plant trees; at the same time, it is necessary to raise awareness and take effective measures to protect forests, prevent deforestation, burning, and illegal logging; increase investment, apply science and technology, and create mechanisms to support and encourage the sustainable development of the forest economy.
