(baosonla.vn) - On February 9th (the 12th day of the first lunar month of the Year of the Snake), the 2025 Incense Offering Festival at the Temple of the Two Trung Sisters was held in Thong Nhat village, Chieng Khuong commune, Song Ma district.
The festival was attended by leaders from Song Ma district, the Provincial Women's Union, Me Linh district, Hanoi City, and a large number of local people and tourists.

In 1975, following the policy of the Party and State, the people of Nai Tu village, Hong Ha commune, Dan Phuong district, Ha Tay province (formerly) relocated to a new economic zone in Chieng Khuong commune, Song Ma district, Son La province. The religious artifacts from the temple dedicated to the Trung Sisters, which was then located in Tan Tien village, Hong Ha commune, Dan Phuong district, Ha Tay province, were moved by the people to build the temple dedicated to the Trung Sisters in Thong Nhat village, Chieng Khuong commune. On November 11, 2011, the temple dedicated to the Trung Sisters was classified as a provincial-level historical relic by the People's Committee of Son La province.

The temple still preserves relatively intact the original set of religious artifacts, consisting of 50 items made of various materials: wood, bronze, earthenware, porcelain, and paper. These artifacts date from approximately the 16th to the 19th centuries. To preserve and promote its historical and cultural values, the temple has been renovated and expanded to a spacious area of 522 square meters.2.

The 2025 Hai Ba Trung Temple Festival consists of two parts (ceremony and festivities): The ceremony includes the water procession, with various groups: the Hai Ba Trung palanquin procession; the jar procession; the flag-carrying group; the drum team; the gong team carrying the ceremonial vessels; the money dance team; the Thai dance team; the spear-carrying team… carrying water from the Ma River to the Hai Ba Trung Temple. At the Ma River, the shaman lights incense, scoops water into the jars, and then the groups carry the water back to the Hai Ba Trung Temple.

Following the water procession to the temple, a welcoming art program was held, featuring special performances: drum performances, dances and songs with themes celebrating the Party, the Spring Festival, and praising love for the homeland; a Taekwondo martial arts demonstration and lion and dragon dances; drumming to officially open the festival; the ritual of offering flowers and incense to commemorate the great contributions of the Trung Sisters; and a report on the outstanding achievements of Song Ma district in the recent past.

During the festival, athletes and people from the communes participated in traditional games such as wrestling, tug-of-war, chess, rice cooking competitions, throwing the "con" (a type of ball), and blindfolded duck catching, attracting a large number of locals and tourists to experience and visit.
The Trung Sisters' Temple Incense Offering Festival is organized to educate about patriotic traditions and demonstrate the national principle of "drinking water, remembering the source." At the same time, it aims to promote the value of the historical site, creating a highlight and making it an attractive cultural and spiritual tourism destination for both domestic and international visitors.
