According to a report by the People's Committee of Son La City, Son La Province, from 2020 to the present, the city has upgraded 55 school buildings and facilities, with a total investment of nearly 330 billion VND. In 2024 alone, the city invested in 2 equipment procurement packages; 23 projects for repairing and constructing new school buildings and other auxiliary facilities with a total budget of 126 billion VND.
In addition, Son La city has also attracted school construction projects such as: Son La Star Kindergarten; Ngoc Linh 2 Kindergarten; Binh Minh International School...
Mr. Do Van Tru, Chairman of the Son La City People's Committee, said: "In recent times, investment in infrastructure has helped to improve the percentage of schools meeting national standards. Currently, the city has 41 out of 43 schools meeting national standards, reaching over 92%, an increase of 9% compared to 2020, with over 53% meeting level 2 standards."

According to Mr. Tru, the quality of both mass education and specialized education in the city has made significant progress. The number of students winning awards in provincial-level student competitions, national and international competitions and events is increasing, consistently ranking among the top in the province.
In the 2024-2025 school year, teachers and students of Chieng Den Kindergarten, Chieng Den commune, Son La city, were delighted as the newly built, spacious classroom building was handed over and put into use.
Ms. Quang Thi Song, Principal of Chieng Den Kindergarten, shared: "Previously, the school had two central classroom locations and three satellite school locations. At these locations, the facilities and equipment were inadequate and did not meet the teaching standards of a kindergarten."
According to Ms. Song, stemming from those difficulties, in March 2024, the school received investment from the city to build two new two-story classroom buildings with 14 classrooms, along with many auxiliary facilities and teaching equipment, totaling over 20 billion VND.

"After six months of construction, the project was handed over and put into use just in time for the start of the 2024-2025 school year. We have merged 300 students from two previous locations into the new site. With a new school and classrooms equipped with modern facilities, equipment, and toys, both teachers and students are very excited and feel secure in their teaching and learning," Ms. Song said.
Son La City is a shining example of education in the region.
Not only has the Chiềng Đen commune kindergarten received attention from the city in terms of infrastructure development, but the city has also focused resources on building and upgrading other schools in the area.
From 2022 to the present, Nguyen Trai Secondary School has received investment for the construction of a new 1-story multi-purpose building; the renovation of a 4-story administrative building; 2 3-story classroom buildings with 36 classrooms; a 4-story boarding house; new toilets and auxiliary facilities, including: a concrete playground, a mini football field, retaining walls, outdoor lighting, and a fire protection system…
At the same time, Nguyen Trai Secondary School is fully equipped with modern teaching equipment, from computer systems to laboratories with complete sets of tools. This helps students not only master theoretical knowledge but also have the opportunity to practice and experience real-world situations, becoming a shining example in the education career of the province and city.
Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, a parent of a student at Nguyen Trai Secondary School, said: "Seeing my child studying in a spacious and modern school, I am very happy. Not only me, but other parents are also very reassured that the learning conditions for their children are constantly improving."

According to Mr. Lam, many schools in the city have met national standards, creating the best conditions for students to study and develop. This, in turn, helps teachers feel secure in their teaching and learning. Son La City has become a shining example of education in the region.
According to Mr. Ha Trung Chien, Secretary of the Son La City Party Committee: During the period 2020-2024, the city completed the construction and put into use many new schools, built to modern standards. These schools are designed with fully equipped laboratories, computer rooms, libraries, and playgrounds and sports facilities.
According to Mr. Chien's assessment, the city has always allocated resources to invest in educational infrastructure, creating the best conditions for teachers and students to teach and learn with peace of mind. Currently, it can be said that the school system in the area is becoming more spacious and modern, helping to improve the quality of education in line with the new situation.
"In 2025, we will continue to review schools to further build, renovate, and upgrade school facilities, especially those that have not yet met national standards level 2. We will focus on investing in facilities to meet the requirements of promoting digital transformation in education, striving to ensure that in the next term, 100% of schools in the city meet national standards level 2," Mr. Chien said.
