(vov.vn) - Thanks to local support and the collective efforts of the people, the ancient village of Hang Tau, Ta So hamlet, Chieng Hac commune, Moc Chau town, Son La province, has become a shining example of community tourism development in the highlands, increasingly attracting a large number of tourists from near and far to visit and experience it.
Located about 20km from the center of Moc Chau town, Hang Tau was originally a production area of the Mong ethnic minority people in Ta So village, Chieng Hac commune, Moc Chau town, Son La province. Known to many tourists as a "primitive village," it still retains the original beauty of the Mong people's lives, along with a lifestyle closely associated with "three no's": no electricity, no phone signal, and no Wi-Fi.

Hang Tau, a "primitive village," is nestled amidst the mountains and forests of Son La.
Tourist Nguyen Van Viet, from Nam Dinh, shared: "Having traveled and experienced many places, I really like the atmosphere here. True to its name, 'primitive village,' there is no electricity and no Wi-Fi. In my opinion, if we want to develop tourism for the Mong ethnic group, it's best for everyone here to preserve things as they are."

This place still retains the original beauty of the Mong ethnic people.
Nestled amidst the lush green forest, the "primitive village" of Hang Tau is now home to over 20 Hmong families. Before engaging in tourism, the lives of the local inhabitants were quiet, with little interaction with the outside world. They were primarily self-sufficient, relying mainly on slash-and-burn agriculture for their livelihood, which led to many difficulties.
In order to gradually change mindsets and practices, aiming for tourist satisfaction while preserving the cultural beauty of the Mong ethnic group, in August 2023, Chieng Hac commune established the Hang Tau Tourism Cooperative with 20 member households. The members provide transportation and sightseeing services, and collaborate with homestay households in Ta So village to offer food and accommodation upon request.

Tourists enjoy checking in and experiencing the cultural atmosphere of the Hmong ethnic group in this area.
Mr. Mua A Chau, Director of Hang Tau Tourism Cooperative in Chieng Hac commune, Moc Chau town, Son La province, shared: "Before developing tourism, our income mainly came from corn and plum trees... But later, with the arrival of tourists, we have integrated tourism with our production activities here. Tourists have also suggested that if we bring in electricity and build roads, they will stop coming. If we can keep things as they are, tourists will really like it and keep coming back again."
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Moc Chau town, Son La province, thanks to the local government's policy of developing Ta So community tourism village, the Hang Tau area has become more well-known; the number of visitors coming to explore and experience it is increasing, and as a result, the Mong people here have been able to operate some services such as renting costumes, renting horses, selling souvenirs or local specialties... to serve tourists.

Currently, the "primitive village" of Hang Tau receives an average of 3,000 visitors per month, generating an average revenue of 100 million VND. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa stated: "Ta So is one of the villages that has received significant support from experts, as well as from the town and province, to develop a community-based tourism village. This village is essentially still very pristine, and the people here still retain the unique characteristics of the Mong ethnic group. Based on that, we have mobilized many resources to build a Mong cultural space here in the most professional way, so that the people can be proud of their identity, and tourists can fully experience the cultural space of the Mong people in this village."
With the involvement of the entire political system and the determination and unity of the Mong ethnic people in exploiting the unique tourism potential of the locality, Tau Cave has become a favorite destination on the Moc Chau tourism map, contributing significantly to poverty alleviation and wealth creation for the ethnic minority people here.
