(sonla.gov.vn) Kicking off the series of activities for the Northwest and Ho Chi Minh City Culture and Tourism Week 2023, a conference promoting tourism in the Northwest and Ho Chi Minh City was held in Ho Chi Minh City on the afternoon of December 4th, 2023. The conference aimed to introduce and promote the unique cultural and tourism strengths of the Northwest provinces, and to strengthen linkages and promotion efforts, to the people and tourists in Ho Chi Minh City.

Attending the conference were Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City; leaders of the Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Son La, Dien Bien, Hoa Binh, Phu Tho and Ha Giang provinces; and more than 100 delegates from tourism promotion centers, tourism associations, businesses, cooperatives, and travel companies from Ho Chi Minh City and the Northwestern provinces.
In 2023, the tourism development cooperation program between the eight provinces of the expanded Northwest region and Ho Chi Minh City achieved many positive results. Through cultural and tourism events, joint tourism promotion and marketing programs, and in the training of tourism human resources and attracting tourism investment, the members of the Cooperation Group proactively and actively issued plans, organized and participated in annual tourism promotion events, and planned events such as: the Northwest Tourism Fair in Phu Tho province during the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day and the Ancestral Land Culture and Tourism Week; the 2023 Hoa Ban Festival and the 7th Dien Bien Province Ethnic Groups' Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival; the Northwest Tourism and Culture Week in Can Tho city; the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival; and the "Essence of the Northwest - Connecting Green Aspirations 2023" Festival. The tourism promotion and marketing activities of the Cooperation Group have contributed to expanding the customer market and gradually affirming the prestige, image, and brand of tourism in the Northwest region and Ho Chi Minh City, successfully introducing and promoting the image and tourism products of the provinces to partners, investors, and domestic and international tourists.

Speaking at the conference, the leader of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Son La province stated: In recent years, Son La province has become a safe and attractive destination in the Northwest region with many unique and diverse tourism products, most notably the Moc Chau National Tourist Area, attracting millions of tourists every year. In its orientation to develop tourism into a key economic sector, Son La province always identifies cooperation and market expansion as important tasks that need to be carried out regularly and continuously. Through the Northwest - Ho Chi Minh City Culture and Tourism Week event, Son La has the opportunity to seek investment opportunities, cooperate, and form inter-regional and inter-provincial tourism routes and products, contributing to the overall development of the tourism industry.
