(sonlatv.vn) - The One Commune One Product (OCOP) program is being implemented in Son La province to promote the rural economy by leveraging local resources and increasing added value. By 2025, the province aims to have an additional 30 OCOP products, thereby contributing to the National Target Program for New Rural Development (2021-2025) in an effective, practical, and sustainable manner…
Son La province currently has over 200 advantageous agricultural products with high economic and commercial value that can be developed into OCOP (One Commune One Product) products, including five main groups: food, beverages, herbs, souvenirs, and rural tourism services. To exploit this potential, the province has focused on developing products within the OCOP program, aiming for objectives such as: developing production and business models for advantageous products and services in communes, wards, and towns; and effectively implementing the "Economy and Production Organization" criterion in the National Criteria for Building New Rural Areas. Localities are also promoting the development of supply chains, shifting the production mindset of farmers from small-scale to large-scale, high-value commodity production.
After more than 5 years of implementation, the province now has 202 OCOP products, including 1 five-star product, 62 four-star products, and 139 three-star products. Cooperatives and businesses have proactively changed their production mindset, innovated science and technology to improve product quality, and boosted promotion and consumption through digital platforms. Many products are now available in supermarket chains and retail outlets inside and outside the province. By 2025, the province aims to have an additional 30 products achieving three stars or higher.
