On March 28th, Song Ma district hosted a meeting between Song Ma district, Son La province (Vietnam) and Muong Et district, Hua Phan province (Lao People's Democratic Republic), to assess the results of cooperation in various fields in 2024 and discuss and agree on directions for cooperation in 2025.

At the conference, leaders of Song Ma and Muong Et districts provided information on the economic, social, defense, and security situation in 2024; and assessed the implementation of the contents of the memorandum of understanding signed in Muong Et district. Accordingly, the Party committees, governments, officials, Party members, and people of the two districts always uphold the tradition of special solidarity and friendship, regularly exchange information, and cooperate in economic and social fields; promptly coordinate in disseminating information and mobilizing people in border communes and villages to implement the Agreement on border regulations. They proactively resolve emerging issues related to security and order, border lines, and boundary markers to ensure the maintenance of political stability and border security.

The authorities on both sides have facilitated the buying, selling, and exchange of goods between businesses and people to serve daily life and production. The value of import and export goods between Muong Et and Song Ma districts in 2024 is estimated at over 3.1 million USD. At the same time, they have maintained and facilitated access to medical care for officials and people of Muong Et district at Song Ma District General Hospital and Chieng Khuong and Muong Hung commune health stations.

Song Ma and Muong Et districts have agreed on areas of cooperation for the coming period. These include continuing to strengthen coordination in disseminating and educating the people in border areas about the Vietnam-Laos National Border Regime Agreement, the Party's guidelines and policies, and the laws of both countries regarding border issues.
Strengthening bilateral patrol coordination to protect the safety of the border system and national boundary markers, promptly and effectively preventing and handling violations; creating favorable conditions for units and businesses operating in the area to comply with the law.
Creating favorable conditions for cadres, soldiers, and the people to participate in cultural, artistic, and sports exchange activities contributes to promoting the traditional solidarity and close relationship between the Party committees, governments, and people of the two districts...
