In recent times, under the leadership of the two Parties and the two Governments of Vietnam and Laos, the Party committees, authorities, officers and soldiers of the armed forces and the people of the two provinces have always promoted the tradition of solidarity and special friendship. Strengthening comprehensive cooperation in the fields of socio-economics, national defense and security. The authorities of districts, communes and villages in the border area and the armed forces of the two sides have regularly exchanged information, conducted patrols to protect the border and border markers, proactively resolved arising incidents such as: encroachment, illegal immigration, illegal border crossing, proactively resolved arising issues of security and order in the border area, contributing to consolidating the special solidarity and friendship between the two provinces of Son La and Hua Phan, the two countries of Vietnam and Laos, ensuring political stability and border security.

In addition, the functional forces of both sides have created the necessary conditions for the circulation of essential goods across the border to serve the people's lives. Permits were granted for more than 90,000 people and vehicles to enter the two sides. More than 4,000 tons of agricultural products and construction materials were traded to serve the needs of the people of the two provinces. Along with that, cooperation in economic development, culture - society, national defense - security, cooperation between specialized agencies and local authorities of the two provinces continues to be focused on and promoted.

In the coming time, the two sides agreed to jointly promote the implementation of the two legal documents on the Vietnam-Laos border; the Party's guidelines and policies, and the two States' laws and policies on border work. Continue to coordinate more closely in the work of grasping the situation in the border area, regularly exchange information on security and order, to promptly resolve incidents, in order to stabilize the security and order situation in the border area. Building a peaceful and friendly border contributes to the economic, cultural and social development, and strengthens the national defense and security of the two provinces. Continue to request the Governments of the two countries to pay attention to investing in infrastructure systems, completing construction items to soon ensure the conditions for upgrading the main border gate of Pa Hang (Hua Phan) into an international border gate.

The two provinces continue to direct competent agencies to research and advise on the development of mechanisms, and pay attention to investing in the implementation of socio-economic development projects in the border areas of the two provinces, in order to encourage and create conditions for businesses of both sides to explore the market, conduct production and business cooperation activities in the border areas, contributing to promoting the development of the traditional solidarity and close relationship between the Party Committees, authorities and people of all ethnic groups of the two provinces.
