On April 19, Son La city organized the Contest to Preserve and Develop the Languages and Writings of Ethnic Groups in Son La City in 2025. This is one of the activities in response to the Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day on April 21.

The contest attracted 21 contestants from 12 communes and wards in the city. The contestants went through 2 rounds, including: Eloquence and writing ethnic script.

The speech contest had 9 contestants participating, speaking in Thai with the theme of praising the Party, Uncle Ho, the homeland and conveying meaningful messages, love stories and legends associated with the lives of the Thai ethnic group, arousing pride and the spirit of solidarity among ethnic groups.

The youngest contestant from Chieng Coi ward participated in the debate competition.
In the ethnic writing competition, there were 12 contestants, who listened to dictation and wrote essays on the topic of preserving traditional culture. The contestants spent a lot of time and effort practicing, carefully researching the content of the competition, investing in costumes, props and performance style.

This is the first time the contest has been organized by Son La city, creating a useful playground, encouraging the young generation to use and develop ethnic languages, contributing to preserving and promoting traditional cultural values; at the same time, improving eloquence, critical thinking and communication skills.
The results of the contest will be announced on Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day on April 21.
