People of Son La province participated in voting, expressing their consensus and high agreement with the plan to rearrange and reorganize commune-level administrative units in the area.
On April 18 and 19, localities in Son La province simultaneously held conferences to collect public opinions on policies and plans to rearrange and reorganize communes and wards.
The conference was held in each village, sub-region, and residential group in the communes, wards, and towns that had been rearranged and reorganized. A large number of people attended and exercised their rights, obligations, and high responsibilities towards the important event of the country and locality.
Many localities have a 100% voter approval rate for the plan to rearrange and reorganize commune-level administrative units, such as Phu Yen, Mai Son, and Bac Yen; the remaining localities also have a high voter approval rate.
After completing the collection of voters' opinions on April 19, the People's Councils of communes, wards and towns will hold a meeting to pass a resolution on rearranging the organization of commune-level administrative units, and submit it to the District People's Council for consideration and decision.
The district-level People's Committee reports the results, along with the Resolution of the district-level and commune-level People's Councils, to the Department of Home Affairs, no later than April 21. The Department of Home Affairs advises the Provincial People's Committee to submit to the Provincial People's Council for consideration and vote on the policy of rearranging commune-level administrative units in the province, expected to submit the dossier no later than April 23; at the same time, report to ask for opinions from the Provincial Party Committee's Steering Committee 398 and the Party Committees at the same level.
The public consultation in Son La province was completed on April 19.
Son La province completes the project dossier on rearranging and reorganizing commune-level administrative units in the area and submits it to the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Government no later than April 30.
According to the conclusion of the Standing Committee of the Son La Provincial Party Committee on the plan to arrange and reorganize commune-level administrative units in the province; it is expected to arrange and reorganize 200 commune-level administrative units (177 communes, 15 wards, 8 towns) in the province into 75 commune-level administrative units (67 communes, 8 wards). Of which, Son La will retain 7 communes that have met the requirements in terms of area, population and have distinct characteristics; 2 new communes will be merged from 6 units; 3 communes will be merged from 5 units; 8 communes will be merged from 4 administrative units.
