On May 9th, at the Son La Provincial Administrative Center, the delegation from Son La province, Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and the delegation from Hua Phan province, Lao People's Democratic Republic, held the 21st Border Work Meeting between the two provinces.

Comrades Trang Thi Xuan, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and Head of the Border Affairs Steering Committee of Son La province; and Phut Phan - Keo Vong Xay, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Deputy Governor, and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Border Committee of Hua Phan province, co-chaired the meeting. Also in attendance were leaders from departments, agencies, and districts of both Son La and Hua Phan provinces.

Over the past period, under the leadership of the Party and Government of Vietnam and Laos, the Party committees, authorities, armed forces, and people of the two provinces of Son La and Hua Phan have always upheld the tradition of special solidarity and friendship, strengthening comprehensive cooperation in the fields of economy, culture, society, defense, security, and building and consolidating the political system to become increasingly strong. Son La province sent a high-level delegation led by the Provincial Party Secretary to visit, work, and sign cooperation documents for the next phase in Hua Phan province.
Both sides regularly send delegations of provincial, sectoral, and local leaders to visit, work, and learn from each other's experiences; creating favorable conditions for businesses, organizations, and people on both sides of the border to trade, exchange goods, and cooperate in investment, production, and business in each province. At the same time, they actively and proactively coordinated closely to successfully organize the ceremony announcing the opening of the Long Sap - Pa Hang international border gate in accordance with the resolutions of the Governments of Vietnam and Laos.

Authorities at all levels and functional forces of the two provinces regularly exchange information, monitor the situation, and promptly resolve any incidents arising related to the border between the two sides, based on respect for each other's independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. They actively promote, educate, and mobilize the people on both sides of the border to strictly abide by the two legal documents on the Vietnam-Laos border.

Both sides agreed to continue effectively implementing legal documents on the Vietnam-Laos border and other related agreements and understandings between the two countries and provinces. Local authorities on both sides will continue to expand and promote the effectiveness of the "village-to-village" twinning model along the border, while also supporting the villages and clusters of villages that have signed agreements; focusing on promoting cultural and sports exchanges, healthcare for border residents, and strengthening solidarity and mutual economic development.
Continue to coordinate the dissemination of legal information to border officers and soldiers, as well as the people in border areas. Both sides will direct border management and protection forces to proactively and actively coordinate and exchange information, organize bilateral and unilateral patrols to firmly protect the border system, border markers, border posts, and national border structures.

Maintain cross-border trade and exchange of goods; cooperate in managing and developing border gates. Effectively implement the contents of the minutes of the annual border meetings at the government and provincial levels; and other relevant agreements and understandings between the two countries and the two provinces.
At the meeting, the two sides discussed, agreed on opinions, and jointly signed the minutes of the 21st border work meeting between Son La and Hua Phan provinces.
