On the afternoon of May 5th, Ms. Trang Thi Xuan, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and Head of the Provincial Border Affairs Steering Committee, chaired a meeting to hear reports on the preparations for the 2025 expanded border affairs liaison conference between Son La province and the provinces of Hua Phan and Luang Prabang, Lao People's Democratic Republic. Representatives from several provincial departments and agencies also attended the meeting.
At the meeting, relevant units reported in detail on the progress of preparatory work. Accordingly, the 21st border cooperation meeting with Hua Phan province and the 15th meeting with Luang Prabang province are scheduled to take place from May 8 to 10, 2025 in Son La city. To date, the Department of Foreign Affairs has completed the draft report evaluating the results of the previous meeting's minutes and the direction for implementing border work in the coming period. Simultaneously, the draft minutes of the meeting have been sent for comments from relevant departments and agencies and the two neighboring provinces to finalize the content before submitting it to the provincial leadership for approval. In particular, propaganda efforts have been intensified with the production of two video clips reflecting the achievements of cooperation in border work between Son La and Hua Phan and Luang Prabang, produced by Son La Provincial Radio and Television Station. Logistical support is also being implemented in a coordinated manner. The plan for receiving delegations from neighboring provinces has been developed in detail and submitted to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and approval. The Department of Foreign Affairs has coordinated with relevant agencies, border districts and towns, and neighboring provinces to select and propose collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in coordination work for commendation.
Concluding the meeting, Comrade Trang Thi Xuan acknowledged and highly appreciated the sense of responsibility of the relevant agencies in the preparation work. She also emphasized that this year's expanded border work coordination meeting is of significant importance not only in strengthening the solidarity and close ties between the three provinces, but also in affirming the proactive and positive role of Son La province in border diplomacy. She requested that the departments and agencies continue to coordinate closely, focus on completing the work according to schedule, and ensure the successful organization of the border work coordination meeting, ensuring safety, effectiveness, and leaving a positive impression on the localities of neighboring Laos.
