In late May, the plum orchards on the Moc Chau plateau begin their main harvest season. The Na Ka plum valley in Co Do ward, covering over 1,000 hectares, is considered the most beautiful plum valley in Northern Vietnam. From above, the continuous plum orchards covering the hillsides create a majestic and picturesque landscape. This is a popular destination for many tourists, especially on weekends.

Standing out amidst the Na Ka plum valley is the more than 2-hectare plum orchard of Mr. Tran Xuan Kha's family. His family's orchard welcomes visitors almost year-round, from the time the plum blossoms bloom, through the early ripening season, and during the peak plum season.
Tourists "check in" at the plum orchard.
Guiding tourists through the plum orchard, Mr. Kha said: "This year, due to the extra month in the lunar calendar, the plums ripened later than usual. Currently, only a few plums are ripening, and visitors can tour, take photos, pick their own plums, and enjoy fresh, delicious fruit right in the orchard. On weekends, my family welcomes about 200 visitors per day. Since switching to growing plums according to VietGAP standards and combining it with tourism, my family has earned more than 1 billion VND per year."
Immersed in the lush plum orchard, Ms. Lam Phuong Thanh, a tourist from Hanoi, shared: "Every year during plum season, my family comes to Moc Chau to experience picking the fruit. The most fun is for the children, who get to experience being a farmer, picking ripe plums with their white bloom still intact, and enjoying them right in the orchard."

In the Na Ka plum valley, many orchards are open to visitors for sightseeing and experiences, with entrance fees ranging from 30,000 to 40,000 VND per person. Visitors can choose the largest and tastiest plums to enjoy right in the orchard. Besides sightseeing and taking photos, visitors can buy plums they pick themselves to take home as souvenirs, with prices ranging from 30,000 to 60,000 VND per kilogram.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Van, Director of Moc Chau Clean Agricultural Products Cooperative, informed: The cooperative currently has over 30 hectares of plum trees in Na Ka valley, all cultivated according to VietGAP standards. In addition to welcoming visitors for tours and experiences, the cooperative also provides camping services right in the plum orchard. Through this, they hope to introduce and promote the superior quality of Moc Chau plums to domestic and international consumers, highlighting their crispness, sweetness, aroma, and especially their safety as agricultural products.
Tourists experience picking plums.
Visiting Moc Chau plateau for the first time, Mr. Bui Thanh Nam, a tourist from Hai Phong city, shared: "Coming to Moc Chau, I felt the spaciousness, the fresh climate, and many beautiful sights. Most impressively, it was my first time experiencing fruit picking, seeing with my own eyes the ancient plum trees laden with fruit, and enjoying the very fresh and delicious plums right in the orchard. I bought a lot of plums to take home as gifts for family and friends."
Moc Chau boasts the largest area of plum cultivation in Vietnam, with a total area of nearly 3,500 hectares; of which, approximately 3,000 hectares are currently producing fruit. Besides the Na Ka valley, visitors can also enjoy delicious plums directly from the orchards in the Mu Nau plum valley and take photos for social media. Moc Chau plums are grown and cared for according to VietGAP standards, a safe, sustainable, and environmentally friendly organic production process. In addition to selling the fruit, plums are processed into various products: dried plums, candied plums, plum syrup, etc. Moc Chau plums and processed plum products are increasingly becoming a popular choice for domestic and international tourists.
People are harvesting late-season plums.
To promote and introduce Moc Chau's late-season plums, as well as to honor plum growers, Moc Chau town will organize the Moc Chau District Late-Season Plum Harvesting Festival on May 31st and June 1st with many exciting and attractive activities to invite tourists to experience. This annual cultural and tourism event has become a distinctive agricultural tourism "brand" of the Moc Chau plateau, and is sure to provide visitors with enjoyable and unforgettable experiences.
