(PLVN) - The award aims to mobilize widespread participation from people in Vietnam, overseas Vietnamese, and international friends in creating photos, videos, or innovative ideas, telling inspiring stories, and making meaningful discoveries on the theme of a happy Vietnam. Through this, it contributes to spreading positive images of Vietnam, its people, its precious cultural and historical traditions, and its socio-economic development achievements to a wide audience both domestically and internationally, contributing to enhancing the country's prestige and position on the international stage.
Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Hai Binh delivered a speech at the launching ceremony.
On the morning of May 22nd, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in collaboration with the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists and Vietnam Television, organized the launching ceremony for the annual Happy Vietnam 2025 award for media coverage on human rights.
Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Hai Binh; President of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists Tran Thi Thu Dong; and Deputy General Director of Vietnam Television Do Duc Hoang presided over the launching ceremony.
This activity aims to implement Decision No. 1079/QD-TTg dated September 14, 2022, of the Prime Minister approving the Communication Scheme on Human Rights in Vietnam and to celebrate the major national holidays in 2025.
Speaking at the event, Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Hai Binh said that many people, including international friends he has met, have told him that Vietnam possesses something that many other nations yearn for but lack: peace, independence, and tranquility in life.
"This award is meant to make people realize once again that they are experiencing happiness that they may not even be aware of," Deputy Minister Le Hai Binh said.
According to the Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the award will bring positive energy to all participants.
“We gather together every moment, every beautiful moment in the lives of each person, including our international friends… When we organize this Award, it is an encouragement and a way to bring everyone together into a common aspiration, because having already experienced this much happiness, we will continue to be even happier,” Mr. Le Hai Binh emphasized; affirming that the Award is an encouragement for a shared aspiration for happiness.
According to the Organizing Committee, in 2025, Vietnam will make significant progress in the happiness index, rising to 46th place in the world, an increase of 8 places compared to 2024 and 19 places compared to 2023. This is an important milestone, demonstrating the world's recognition and high appreciation of Vietnam's policies and achievements in ensuring human rights in recent years.
In that spirit, the Award is organized with the goal of mobilizing the broad participation of people in the country, Vietnamese expatriates abroad, and international friends in creating photos, videos, or having creative ideas, telling good stories, and making meaningful discoveries on the theme of a happy Vietnam.
This contributes to spreading positive images of Vietnam, its people, its precious cultural and historical traditions, and its socio-economic development achievements to a wide audience both domestically and internationally, thereby enhancing the country's prestige and position on the international stage.
Through this award, the Organizing Committee aims to convey the message that Vietnam is rapidly moving and developing strongly and comprehensively in all fields, including breakthroughs in science and technology development, national innovation and digital transformation; international integration in the new context; innovation in lawmaking and enforcement; and rapid, sustainable, efficient, and high-quality development of the private economy.
The clearest evidence of the country's innovative achievements, development, and people's happiness is the authentic and vivid stories, presented in images and videos on the aforementioned topics, created and submitted by the people themselves.
Authors, whether professional or amateur, Vietnamese or foreign, aged 15 and above, are eligible to participate in the Award. Entries will be carefully selected by the Organizing Committee according to specific and clear criteria, as stipulated in the Award Regulations, and judged fairly and objectively by leading experts, journalists, and reputable photographers and filmmakers in two judging panels: the Preliminary Judging Panel and the Final Judging Panel.
