The speech at the ceremony, presented by Comrade Hoang Quoc Khanh, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, highlighted the history of formation, construction and development of Son La province over the past 130 years. On October 10, 1895, Son La province was officially established with the initial name of Van Bu province, and in 1904 it was changed to Son La. Over the historical periods, Son La province has continuously developed and has achieved great achievements in all fields of economy, society, national defense, security, political system building and foreign affairs of the Party, especially in nearly 40 years of implementing the renovation process, deploying the 2-level local government model towards being close to the people, serving the people better. The great achievements have always been associated with the wise leadership of the Party and the great President Ho Chi Minh; the attention, leadership, direction, and support of the leaders of the Party, State, Government, National Assembly, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, central ministries, branches, and localities nationwide for Son La throughout the process of construction and development; the constant efforts of cadres, party members, and people of all ethnic groups in the area.
