On the morning of March 14, Muong Sang ward, Moc Chau town coordinated with Moc Chau Island Tourist Area - Bach Long Glass Bridge to re-enact the Son La Province Rain Praying Festival in 2025.
The Rain Praying Festival of the White Thai ethnic group in Muong Sang ward was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Decision No. 392/QD-BVHTT&DL dated February 21, 2024 announcing the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage. The festival consists of two parts: The ceremony part has rituals: Worshiping the God of Land, worshiping the God of Water and praying for rain; The festival part: has dances to pray for water, celebrate water, dance the circle and folk games. The rain praying festival is usually held every year on the 15th day of the second lunar month, which is the driest time. The festival is held to pray to the gods and Then in the sky for plenty of water, for rain to help people grow crops, and for a bountiful harvest.
The rain-praying festival demonstrates the relationship and connection within the community, strengthens solidarity between families, clans and ethnic groups, and helps promote the unique cultural values of the Thai ethnic group in particular and the ethnic groups of Moc Chau and Son La in general to tourists inside and outside the province./.
