On the afternoon of May 5, Comrade Trang Thi Xuan, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Border Work Steering Committee chaired a meeting to listen to a report on the preparation for the 2025 Border Expansion Conference between Son La province and the two provinces of Hua Phan and Luang Prabang, Lao People's Democratic Republic. Attending the meeting were representatives of leaders of a number of provincial departments and branches.

At the meeting, relevant units reported in detail on the progress of the preparation work. Accordingly, the 21st border work meeting with Hua Phan province and the 15th with Luang Prabang province are expected to take place from May 8 to 10, 2025 in Son La city. Up to now, the Department of Foreign Affairs has completed the draft report assessing the results of the implementation of the minutes of the previous meeting and the direction for implementing border work in the coming time. At the same time, the draft minutes of the meeting were sent to relevant departments, branches and the two neighboring provinces for comments to unify the content for approval by the provincial leaders. In particular, propaganda work has been promoted with the production of 2 video clips reflecting the achievements of cooperation in border work between Son La and Hua Phan and Luang Prabang, produced by Son La Provincial Radio and Television Station. Logistics work is also being deployed synchronously. The plan to welcome delegations from neighboring provinces has been developed in detail and submitted to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and approval. The Department of Foreign Affairs has coordinated with relevant agencies, border districts, towns and neighboring provinces to select and propose collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in coordination work to propose rewards.

Concluding the meeting, Comrade Trang Thi Xuan acknowledged and highly appreciated the sense of responsibility of the relevant agencies in the preparation work. At the same time, she emphasized that this year's border extension meeting is of great significance not only in strengthening the solidarity and close relationship between the three provinces, but also affirming the proactive and active role of Son La province in border diplomacy. She requested that departments and branches continue to coordinate closely, focus on completing tasks on schedule, ensure the successful organization of the border meeting, safely and effectively, and leave a good impression on the localities of Laos.
