In 2021, Mr. Cha A Tung's family participated in the Pear Development Support Project and was provided with 500 VH6 pear trees, along with fertilizers and biological products. After nearly 4 years of care, the pear garden grew well, with stable yields, large, sweet fruits, and was well received by the market.
Mr. Cha A Tung, Phieng Cai village, Long Sap commune, Son La: I grew pears from 2021 to 2025, I earned 1 ton of fruit, helping my family develop the economy.
With the support of the project, Mr. Chang Lau Thai's family in Phieng Cai village, Long Sap commune converted 3,000 m² of hilly land to grow VH6 pear trees.
Mr. Chang Lau Thai, Phieng Cai village, Long Sap commune, Son La: I see that pear trees bring very high economic efficiency, 1kg costs from 20,000 to 25,000, twice as much as the passion fruit trees that my family used to grow. The climate here is cool, pear trees are suitable for the climate here, and the soil and soil conditions in Phieng Cai village are favorable for us here.
The entire Long Sap border commune currently has over 58 hectares of VH6 pear trees for harvest, mainly concentrated in the two villages of Bo Sap and Phieng Cai. The first year only yielded about 1.5 tons of fruit, but this year the output has increased sharply, reaching over 7 tons.
Mr. Hoang Van Tho, Deputy Head of Economic Department, Long Sap Commune, Son La: "The pear tree project brought to Long Sap Commune is initially very suitable for the soil and climate conditions of Long Sap Commune, so it develops very quickly, produces very good products and the pear product has a very high price in the area."
Developing pear trees according to the value chain helps to form concentrated commodity areas, build pilot models for people to learn and apply. From there, promote the application of science and technology, increase product value, develop agricultural tourism, create jobs, increase income, and contribute to building new rural areas./.
