Today, digital learning is no longer unfamiliar to people in the province, gradually breaking down barriers of terrain and distance, contributing to improving the overall quality of education.
According to data from the Provincial Steering Committee for Building a Learning Society, the awareness of Party committees, government agencies, and the people about lifelong learning has significantly improved. Specifically, in 2025, the province recognized more than 742,300 "Learning Citizens," accounting for over 52% of the assessable population, including officials, civil servants, businesspeople, students, and ethnic minority communities. The rate of "Learning Families" reached over 83%, "Learning Clans" nearly 80%, "Learning Communities" over 91%, and "Learning Units" exceeded 94%...
The digital learning movement in Son La is spreading rapidly, with 100% of communes and wards maintaining community learning centers. These centers proactively survey needs, develop flexible plans, organize training in knowledge, skills, and expertise, and promote the dissemination of policies, laws, and socio-cultural information at the grassroots level. Many forms of digital learning have been implemented and proven effective, most notably the "Digital People's Education Portal," which officially launched in October 2025, enabling people to access open educational resources and online courses on digital skills and the application of technology in daily life and production. Alongside this, activities to popularize digital skills for people at all levels are being implemented through innovative models.
Specifically, the "Digital Ambassador" model is implemented in communes and wards, mobilizing grassroots forces to directly guide people in using public services, digital banking, and essential digital platforms. Meanwhile, the "Digital Family" model centers around each household to disseminate digital skills, contributing to the digitalization of daily life and promoting the application of technology in production, business, and education.
In addition, the "Knowledge House" model is implemented right in remote villages, becoming a space for people to gather, exchange knowledge, and improve digital skills through digital platforms and mobile devices, helping to narrow the technology access gap between rural and urban areas...
Based on the achievements, Mr. Ha Trung Chien, Standing Vice Chairman of the Son La Provincial People's Committee, requested that departments, agencies, and localities continue to closely coordinate and effectively implement tasks to build a learning society, aiming to spread digital knowledge to all citizens. In particular, the Department of Education and Training plays a core role, advising and organizing lifelong learning programs, improving the quality of activities of continuing education centers and community learning centers in line with practical needs. At the same time, relevant sectors need to promote vocational training, apply science and technology, digital transformation, ensure resources, and leverage the role of the Provincial Association for the Promotion of Learning to replicate effective learning models, towards building a sustainable learning society in Son La.
The "Adopted Children of Border Guard Posts" and "Teachers in Military Uniforms" programs have empowered ethnic minority students and impoverished children in border areas through support for their studies, daily lives, and direct teaching. These models not only contribute to literacy eradication but also help improve foundational knowledge and digital skills, opening up better learning opportunities and futures for the younger generation in disadvantaged regions.
