Son La is a land blessed by nature with beautiful landscapes; it is also a land of many types of flowers blooming. Promoting these advantages, localities in the province have focused on developing eco-tourism, flower viewing experiences; organizing festivals associated with flower seasons, attracting many tourists to visit and experience.
Plum blossom is the typical flower of Moc Chau district.
Moc Chau Plateau is the land of flowers, with a typical flower being plum blossoms. With over 3,000 hectares of plums, in spring plum blossoms bloom white on the mountains and forests, creating a poetic and gentle scene. Moc Chau plum blossoms are beautiful not only because of their fragile, pure appearance, but also because when they bloom, they will bloom profusely. Plum trees compete to show off their colors, the small plum blossoms cover the branches like a pure white cloak covering the whole area, absolutely beautiful... In addition to plum blossoms, in spring, many kinds of flowers compete to show off their colors, such as: mustard flowers, buckwheat flowers, wild sunflowers, peaches, daisies... hidden on the hillsides, valleys, in villages, in many attractive eco-tourism areas such as: Ban Ang pine forest, Dong Sang commune; Happy land, Dai Yem waterfall, Moc Chau Island, Muong Sang commune; Na Ka valley, Moc Chau farm town... It is an ideal and attractive destination for those who love the poetic scenery of the Northwest mountains and forests.

Speaking of Son La, we cannot help but mention the Ban flowers. Around March, when the Ban flowers bloom white on the mountain slopes, it is also the time when many festivals take place such as: Son La City Ban Flower Festival; Van Ho District Ban Flower Festival; Het Cha Festival in Ang Village, Dong Sang Commune, Moc Chau District... The festivals represent the unique cultural features in the spiritual life of the Thai ethnic group in Son La; express the people's respect and gratitude to remember the great contributions of the gods and pray for national peace and prosperity, a prosperous village, favorable weather all year round, and bountiful crops; arouse national solidarity and love for the homeland.
The festivals are expanded with many exciting and unique activities, such as: Art programs, exhibitions of ethnic cultural camps, "Hoa Ban Beauty" contest, exchange activities, ethnic sports competitions, ethnic cuisine competitions; displays and exhibitions of local cultural, tourism and agricultural products..., to introduce and promote the cultural beauty, typical agricultural products, potentials and tourism strengths of localities to visitors from near and far.
In recent years, Son La has been known for the Hawthorn Flower Festival in Muong La district, held in the "fairyland" of Ngoc Chien. Among them, the activity chosen by many tourists is the experience of going to Nam Nghep village to see hawthorn flowers. Nam Nghep village, located at an altitude of 2,000 to 2,500m above sea level, 100% of the people of the village are Mong ethnic people. This place is considered the capital of hawthorn trees with a total area of about 1,260 hectares. Of which, nearly 800 hectares are ancient trees with an age of 300 - 500 years. In Nam Nghep, the hawthorn trees grow in clusters, so when they bloom at the same time, some places look like soft white silk strips, some places like giant white carpets embracing the village, mountain corners, and hillsides. The hawthorn flower blooming season is also the time when Nam Nghep welcomes many tourists to visit and experience.
