When mentioning the "sweet banana, fragrant mango" region of Yen Chau, we cannot ignore a product that has created a brand: Round mango. Currently, the whole district has more than 600 hectares of round mango, with an average output of nearly 4,000 tons/year. This is a native mango variety, associated with Yen Chau people for generations.

Yen Chau is a large mango growing area of the province with over 3,280 hectares of mangoes, with an estimated output of 15,000 tons of fruit per year. The locality has a hot, dry climate with steep terrain and red soil, suitable for mango trees, so the round mangoes here have a delicious, sweet taste and a characteristic aroma, favored by consumers.
Since 2012, round mangoes have been certified for geographical indications and brand recognition. Yen Chau district has selected and planned round mango growing areas in 3 communes: Chieng Pan, Vieng Lan, and Sap Vat. These are communes with special geographical conditions, suitable for the growth and development of this mango variety.

To improve productivity and product quality, as well as expand the area of round mango cultivation, in recent years, Yen Chau district has directed specialized agencies to organize voluntary training courses for farmers on techniques for planting and caring for round mango trees; coordinate with the Hanoi Fruit and Vegetable Research Institute to build a model for grafting and improving local mangoes; propagate and develop round mango trees from parent varieties; organize training on planting and caring techniques according to VietGAP and organic standards, and preserve fruit products after harvest for farmers in communes.

In addition, the district mobilizes households and cooperatives to cooperate in production and proactively seek out contacts and businesses to sign contracts for product consumption. At the same time, it supports cooperatives in packaging, origin traceability stamps, building purchasing points, contributing to promoting and introducing products, and increasing the economic value of round mangoes.

After being granted a geographical indication certificate by the Intellectual Property Office of Viet Nam (Ministry of Science and Technology), Yen Chau round mango was further included by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in the list of rare crop genetic resources in need of conservation and is the only indigenous mango variety in northern Vietnam listed in the catalog of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) that needs to be preserved and developed.

Along with preserving and maintaining the native round mango variety, Yen Chau district is currently developing many new mango varieties with high productivity, such as Taiwanese, Thai, Australian green-skinned elephant mangoes... On average, each year, the district consumes over 13,000 tons domestically and exports 3,200 tons of mangoes to markets in China, Japan, Korea...
To ensure output for mango products, the district develops a consumption plan; directs functional departments to coordinate with communes to monitor, guide, advise, and provide technical support for care, harvesting, packaging, and preservation of mangoes to ensure technical processes. At the same time, continue to promote and introduce mango products to units in provinces, cities, and export and processing enterprises. Thanks to that, local mango products increasingly dominate the domestic and export markets.

To promote the mango brand, this year, Yen Chau district continues to organize the Mango Festival, attracting thousands of people and tourists from inside and outside the province to visit and experience. The series of diverse festival events is longer, with more attractive content.
Coming here, in addition to experiencing fruit picking, enjoying fresh, fragrant and sweet round mangoes, stinky mangoes, green-skinned mangoes..., visitors can also enjoy processed products such as: dried mangoes, mango cakes, mango juice..., along with many agricultural products, traditional handicrafts, typical of the district.
