On the morning of August 17, at the Center for Communication and Culture, Quynh Nhai district organized a contest to display traditional Tet offerings and a space to perform ethnic culture.

The culinary competition had the participation of 14 teams, from 11 communes and specialized units, departments and offices of the district. The teams brought trays of food presented according to the traditional Tet xip xi customs of the White Thai people, with the main dishes of the holiday, such as: Boiled duck, braised black plum, grilled fish, five-color sticky rice, humpbacked Chung cake, and many other attractive dishes, such as: Grilled chicken, mo, smoked meat, giang fish...

Dishes are prepared using locally sourced ingredients, ensuring freshness, enticing flavors, and creative presentations. Each team presents a unique speech on their dish, convincing the judges and audience and introducing the distinctive culinary essence of the White Thai people of Quynh Nhai district during the Xip Xi festival to friends and nearby visitors.

The space for performing ethnic culture with the participation of nearly 150 artisans and mass actors participating in the performance of "Xoe Thai" art, a unique cultural form of the Thai ethnic group in Son La, has been recognized by UNESCO as a representative of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Here, the "Kin Pang Then" festival of the White Thai people in Quynh Nhai is also vividly recreated. The Kin Pang Then festival, also known as the "adopted child celebration", has been maintained for a long time with the meaning of allowing the "adopted children" to express their gratitude to the person who cured their illness and pray for health, luck, and a bountiful harvest in the new year. This festival has been included in the list of national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism since 2020.
