On the morning of August 17th, at the Communication and Culture Center, Quynh Nhai district organized a competition showcasing traditional Tet (Vietnamese New Year) feast trays and a space for performing ethnic culture.

The culinary competition featured 14 teams from 11 communes and specialized departments and agencies of the district. The teams presented feasts arranged according to the traditional customs of the White Thai people's Tet (Lunar New Year) celebration, with main dishes such as: boiled duck, braised black olives, grilled fish, five-colored sticky rice, humpback rice cakes, and many other attractive dishes such as: grilled chicken, smoked meat, smoked fish, etc.

Dishes are prepared using locally sourced ingredients, ensuring freshness, enticing flavors, and creative presentations. Each team presents a unique speech on their dish, convincing the judges and audience and introducing the distinctive culinary essence of the White Thai people of Quynh Nhai district during the Xip Xi festival to friends and nearby visitors.

The cultural performance space featured nearly 150 artisans and amateur performers showcasing the "Thai Xoe dance," a unique cultural form of the Thai ethnic group in Son La, which has been inscribed on the UNESCO List of Representative Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Here, the "Kin Pang Then" festival of the White Thai ethnic group in Quynh Nhai is vividly recreated. The Kin Pang Then festival, also known as the "feast for adopted children," has been maintained for a very long time, signifying the gratitude of the "adopted children" to those who cured their illnesses and praying for health, good fortune, and a bountiful harvest in the new year. This festival was included in the list of national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2020.

The cultural activities at the event to receive the National Intangible Cultural Heritage for the customs and beliefs of the Xip Xi Tet ritual of the White Thai people in Quynh Nhai district showcased and promoted the image of the beautiful, prosperous, and culturally rich riverside countryside, inviting visitors from all over to Quynh Nhai to celebrate Xip Xi Tet in the 7th lunar month every year.
