Up to now, Mai Son district has formed concentrated agricultural production areas with a total planting area of 45,394 hectares, of which food crops and vegetables account for 14,762 hectares; industrial crops account for 19,132 hectares; fruit trees account for 11,500 hectares... The whole district also has 3 high-tech agricultural areas, including: 2 high-tech coffee production areas with 1,039.5 hectares, 1,560 households participating; 1 high-tech custard-apple production area of 334.2 hectares with 166 households participating; 1,143.7 hectares are certified by VietGAP; 1,217.2 hectares of fruit trees are granted 46 growing area codes, 5 packaging facilities for export, granted to qualified enterprises and cooperatives to export to the US, Australia, New Zealand, China... These are advantages for Mai Son district to develop many OCOP products.
Ara-Tay Coffee Cooperative was established in late 2019 with 14 members. After more than 5 years of establishment, the Cooperative has now linked with 300 coffee-growing households to convert to organic production on 70 hectares. Recognizing the quality of Natural roasted coffee and Honey roasted coffee products, the Cooperative has received advice from specialized units of the district and province to complete its business plan and product brand identity. By 2023, 2 products of the Cooperative will be assessed as 4-star OCOP product quality.
Ms. Cam Thi Mon, Director of the Cooperative, said: After being recognized as OCOP, the products all have growth in revenue, profit, job creation, and increased income for people. Each year, the Cooperative sells 8-10 tons of green and ground coffee to the market; supplies and creates a typical product line for coffee shops in Hanoi and provinces and cities across the country, which is well received by consumers. The annual revenue of the Cooperative is about 1.6 billion VND. To further affirm the quality of OCOP products, the Cooperative has built a production workshop, fruit washing machine, coffee machine, packaging and product packaging machine; 2 modern hulling machines using wet processing technology, helping to ensure natural coffee flavor and save water.
Up to now, Mai Son district has 20 products recognized as OCOP, of which: 10 products have achieved 3-star rating, 10 products have achieved 4-star rating, with diverse products such as: Nguyen Phong dried longan; Quang Vinh sachi seeds; macadamia nuts; cordyceps mushrooms; A3 roasted coffee; shiitake mushrooms; strawberries; Dai Son custard apples; Bao Tin honey; Binh Minh bamboo straws; Queenpearl pearls; lingzhi mushrooms; dried dragon fruit; coffee; Ngoc Linh ginseng extract; Ngoc Linh ginseng extract wine...
Mr. Nguyen Khac Hao, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Mai Son district, said: Up to now, 20 OCOP products of the district have been put on the electronic trading floor and electronic information portal managed by the Department of Industry and Trade, the websites of the province's OCOP program, on social networking sites of enterprises and units; promoting and advertising local OCOP products at fairs, exhibitions, participating in product displays and introductions... Since then, OCOP products have been more highly appreciated by consumers, affirming their position in the market.
In 2024, Mai Son district will continue to evaluate 8 OCOP products, including: Tan Nhe Muong Chanh sticky rice; macadamia wine; whole bean coffee, ground coffee, coffee bags; soy sauce; frozen vegetable soybeans; Ichi Farm special strawberries; Delica macadamia; Khanh Thanh gai cake. The subjects participating in the OCOP program have improved their qualifications and capacity; the quality of OCOP products ensures food safety and environmental protection.
The OCOP program has had positive impacts, contributing to the transformation of agricultural production structure from small-scale to production according to value chain linkages, product quality, meeting strict standards and regulations in demanding markets. In the coming time, along with encouraging individuals and organizations to actively participate in the OCOP program, Mai Son district will promote the application of information technology and digital transformation in communication, building profiles and managing OCOP product data; enhancing the development of new products along the chain from production to processing and consumption; consolidating and improving the quality of certified OCOP products..., contributing to the successful implementation of the district's socio-economic development goals.
