The model for growing red-fleshed dragon fruit by An Phu Clean Agriculture Cooperative, Chieng An ward.
In Hamlet 2, Chieng An Ward, An Phu Clean Agriculture Cooperative has implemented a model of growing red-fleshed dragon fruit according to VietGAP standards, on a scale of 5 hectares, applying off-season dragon fruit production techniques, resulting in fruit ripening on the 15th and 1st days of the lunar month, creating a stable market and higher selling prices compared to mass-produced dragon fruit.
Mr. Quang Van Trung, Director of An Phu Clean Agriculture Cooperative, shared: "Each year, the dragon fruit orchard yields 18 harvests, with a productivity of about 25 tons/ha. The selling price ranges from 15,000 to 30,000 VND/kg, resulting in a profit of 200-250 million VND/ha/year. Currently, traders come to the orchard to purchase the cooperative's dragon fruit products and supply them to other provinces and within the city. The model is being replicated for 18 member households."

In Hua La commune, a model of intensive coffee cultivation with shade trees in Hoang Van Thu village is proving highly economically effective. With 5 hectares of coffee plantations intercropped with approximately 400 Aquilaria trees, the model helps mitigate the damage caused by frost in winter and regulate humidity in summer. The model yields 15-20 tons of fresh coffee cherries per hectare, selling for 10,000-15,000 VND/kg, generating revenue of 250 million VND per hectare. After deducting expenses, the profit is approximately 150 million VND per hectare.
Mr. Quang Van Buu, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hua La commune, shared: The commune has coordinated with the City's Agricultural Services Center to organize training courses on coffee care and harvesting techniques in 15 villages. Currently, the entire commune has over 1,300 hectares of coffee trees, and has established 3 cooperatives; 2 products have achieved OCOP product status; among them, the pure ground coffee of Bich Thao Son La Coffee Cooperative has achieved a 5-star national OCOP product.

Mr. Doan Van Thang, Head of the City's Economic Department, further shared: Based on the effectiveness of these models, the Department continues to advise the City People's Committee on implementing policies to support agricultural and rural development, such as: building infrastructure in production areas; developing models for transferring advanced technologies; developing product brands, etc.
In addition, Son La city directs specialized agencies to actively guide and support producers with scientific and technical solutions to improve product yield and quality. It also strengthens connections with businesses and cooperatives investing in linked production and agricultural product procurement, especially medium and large-scale businesses and cooperatives with strong financial resources, experience, and extensive linkages, as well as deep processing capabilities.
In addition, the People's Committees of communes and wards are directed to evaluate the effectiveness of the models; organize visits and learning opportunities for the people to observe models with high economic efficiency; draw lessons and develop specific solutions for models that have not achieved the desired results. Emphasis should be placed on developing integrated production models, focusing on organic farming; applying high technology, and operating on a concentrated scale for sustainable development. Production development should be linked to building brands for distinctive local products, with the goal that each commune and ward must have at least one strong product.
