In recent years, our province has directed functional agencies, districts and cities to restore, embellish, preserve and promote the values of historical and cultural relics. Many relics in the province have become "red addresses" to educate patriotic traditions, attracting a large number of tourists to visit, contributing to promoting local tourism development.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinates with districts and cities to prepare dossiers to submit for ranking 1-2 relics. At the same time, conduct an inventory and make a list of newly discovered relics to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for approval; organize measurements and demarcate 58/65 relics. Currently, the whole province has 96 historical, cultural and scenic relics; of which, 65 relics have been ranked, including 2 special national relics, 16 national relics, 47 provincial relics. Historical and cultural relics are distributed in districts and most are associated with a historical event; some relics are distributed on an inter-provincial and inter-national scale.
From the state budget and socialized sources, 38/65 relics in the province have been renovated and embellished with main items showing signs of degradation, contributing to preserving the original elements of the relics, meeting the needs of sightseeing and spiritual cultural activities of the people. In particular, in the period of 2018-2024, the province has implemented the renovation and embellishment of the special national relic of Son La Prison, the Imperial Stele of Que Lam - Temple of King Le Thai Tong, Son La city, with a total cost of more than 33 billion VND. In addition, the Temple of Hai Ba Trung, Song Ma district; Muong Va Tower, Sop Cop district; Muong Bam Tower, Thuan Chau district; Nga Ba Co Noi historical relic site, Mai Son district; Hang Mieng Temple, Van Ho district... have also been invested in and embellished.
Nearly 70 years ago, the primeval forest in Nhot village, Gia Phu commune, Phu Yen district, was the resting place of General Vo Nguyen Giap and his troops marching to the Dien Bien Phu battlefield. In 2008, the Provincial People's Committee recognized the Nhot village forest as a provincial historical relic. In 2020, the province assigned Phu Yen district to deploy and implement a project to protect the forest, restore, embellish and promote the value of the historical relic of the resistance war against the French in the Nhot village forest.
Ms. Ninh Thi Tam Binh, Head of the Department of Culture and Information, Phu Yen district, said: The General Memorial House was built and put into operation to facilitate tourists to visit and experience. Phu Yen has established a relic management board, assigned officers and employees to be on duty to welcome visitors, especially during peak holidays and Tet; focused on renovating the relic, cleaning the environment, ensuring security and order, fire prevention and fighting.
In addition, to attract tourists to historical and cultural sites, districts and cities in the province have proactively built and connected source tourism tours, combining visits to historical sites with experiences of local beliefs and culture. Organize spiritual tours during major festivals. Promote the application of technology at relics to develop "smart tourism", in order to awaken and exploit the potential of cultural heritage to serve a variety of sightseeing and experiencing activities at relics. At the same time, organize training courses to improve professional capacity, skills, soft skills, and foreign language skills for the team of tour guides and interpreters at relics. Increase human resources to manage, protect, serve, and ensure operations at relic sites towards the goal of making Son La a safe and attractive destination in the region.
In Moc Chau district, there are 14 ranked historical and cultural relics; of which, there are 3 national relics and 11 provincial relics. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa, Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee, informed: In the past time, the district has restored, embellished and repaired 7 relics, with a total cost of more than 60 billion VND, from the state budget and socialized sources. The district has applied information technology, implementing "Digitalization of historical relics" at 5 relics. The relic system has been included in tour schedules and tourist routes by travel companies. From 2022 to present, the relics in the district, especially the 3 national relics, have attracted over 150,000 visitors.
With the increasing demand for tourism of tourists to historical and cultural relics in the province; all levels, sectors and localities in the province strengthen the management, conservation, restoration and promotion of the value of historical and cultural relics. Continue to review and conduct field surveys at some relics that meet the standards to establish scientific records to propose relic ranking, creating a premise for carrying out restoration, restoration, investment in infrastructure construction, connecting tours and tourist routes. Encourage and create conditions for local communities to participate and benefit from tourism development, associated with relics, contributing to job creation and increasing income for people.
