(baosonla.vn) - Entering 2025, Quynh Nhai district has focused its efforts and mobilized the entire political system to work together to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households. With high determination, after nearly 3 months of implementation, Quynh Nhai has completed the goal of eliminating 99 temporary and dilapidated houses, finishing more than a month ahead of schedule.

Comrade Lo Minh Hung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, along with leaders of Quynh Nhai district, visited a family that received support to replace their temporary house.
in Muong Giang town.
Following the directives and guidance from the Central and Provincial authorities on eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, since the end of 2024, Quynh Nhai district has urgently reviewed and compiled a list of poor households and disadvantaged families in need of housing support. Priority has been given to households of people with meritorious service to the revolution, relatives of martyrs, poor and near-poor households, elderly people living alone without support, and households facing extreme difficulties. Based on this, a list of households needing housing support has been compiled, along with a plan outlining the timeline for repairs or new construction, ensuring that support for eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses reaches the intended beneficiaries.
Through a review, the entire district has 99 households facing housing difficulties that need support, including 57 houses needing new construction and 42 houses needing repairs, with a total budget of 4.68 billion VND. Based on this, the district has developed a detailed plan, assigning tasks to specialized departments, communes, and towns, setting a target to complete the elimination of 99 temporary and dilapidated houses before April 30, 2025. Of these, 21 houses were eliminated before the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake, with support of 60 million VND for new construction and 30 million VND for households needing repairs.
As one of the households receiving a new home before Tet, Mrs. Lo Thi Phao, from Bung Lanh sub-district, Muong Giang town, emotionally said: "My house used to be dilapidated, leaking during the rainy season and drafty in the winter. My husband and I lived in great hardship. Thanks to the government's care and support, we now have a sturdy, warm house to live in in our old age. We don't know what more to say; we are very grateful to the officials."

Immediately after the Lunar New Year holiday, Quynh Nhai district continued to focus its efforts on completing the construction and repair of the remaining houses according to the plan. In addition to the allocated capital, the district has called for and mobilized additional resources from agencies, businesses, and the community with the spirit of "Everyone contributes what they can, everyone contributes their labor, everyone contributes their resources, everyone contributes what they can, everyone contributes what they can." This included mobilizing youth union members, police officers, women's association members, veterans, and others to contribute their efforts to building these charitable houses.
Upon review, Muong Sai and Ca Nang communes have the highest number of households needing housing assistance in the entire district, with 22 households in each commune. Overcoming difficulties due to their remoteness from the district center and being isolated by the reservoir, the communes are determined to cooperate to achieve the goal of eliminating temporary housing in the area.
Mr. Lo Van Hong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Muong Sai commune, informed: The majority of households receiving support to replace temporary houses are in remote, high-altitude villages with difficult access. The commune has mobilized forces, especially youth union members, relatives, and family members in the villages, to help each household build new houses or repair existing ones, contributing 25-30 days of labor each. As of March 24th, Muong Sai has completed the construction of 15 new houses and the repair of 7 houses for poor households.

The leaders of Quynh Nhai district inspected the work of eliminating temporary housing in Ca Nang commune.
Among the 22 households receiving housing support in Muong Sai commune, many are in particularly difficult circumstances, including elderly people and those without family support. Mrs. Lo Thi Dien, from It village, is 93 years old and lived alone in a dilapidated, makeshift house. Thanks to the support, her new house was completed in early March 2025. Mrs. Dien was moved, saying, "I never thought I would be able to live in such a warm and sturdy new house. I am very grateful to the Party, the State, and the officials."
The work of demolishing temporary and dilapidated houses in Quynh Nhai district has been proactively implemented by local authorities in accordance with the actual conditions at the grassroots level. For example, Muong Giang town mobilized officials and Party members throughout the town to contribute 20,000 VND/person, totaling 30 million VND, along with hundreds of man-days to support 15 households in demolishing temporary and dilapidated houses. Communes also mobilized forces to contribute man-days from demolishing old houses, leveling the ground, transporting materials, and helping construction units quickly complete the houses. Notably, Ca Nang commune mobilized nearly 550 man-days to support the demolition of 22 temporary houses; Chieng Khoang commune mobilized nearly 270 man-days to support the demolition of 10 temporary houses; and Chieng Bang commune mobilized over 300 man-days to help 9 households build new houses or repair existing ones.
In addition to the funding stipulated by the province, Quynh Nhai district has allocated 5% of its 2024 recurrent expenditure to fund the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses. Simultaneously, it has mobilized 3.3 billion VND from socialized capital sources to implement this phase of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses. Of this amount, the Military Industry and Telecommunications Group contributed 2.25 billion VND; the Vietnam Electricity Group contributed 500 million VND; and the Pham family clan from Thanh Hoa and the Tong family clan from Son La contributed 550 million VND. This is a significant contribution and practical support for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in Quynh Nhai district.
Comrade Dinh Trung Dung, Secretary of the Quynh Nhai District Party Committee, said: Right from the stage of reviewing eligible recipients for housing support, the Standing Committee of the Quynh Nhai District Party Committee has directed decisively, assigning tasks to members of the Steering Committee, specialized departments and agencies of the district, and providing detailed guidance to communes and villages to ensure support reaches the right beneficiaries. At the same time, specific responsibilities have been assigned to cadres and Party members, especially the heads of Party committees, in the implementation process. Regular inspections and monitoring have been conducted, progress reports have been submitted daily, and construction has been expedited to ensure quality and timely completion, helping to bring new homes to the families as soon as possible. As of March 25th, the entire district has completed the demolition of 99 temporary and dilapidated houses for beneficiary households, one month ahead of schedule.
The completion of the demolition of temporary and dilapidated houses ahead of schedule is a testament to the determination and efforts of the Party committees and authorities at all levels in Quynh Nhai district in implementing the plan. This is also the result of the unity and cooperation, fostering a spirit of solidarity and sharing within the community, working together for the poor. The 99 completed houses mean 99 more families have new homes to settle down and make a living, giving them more strength to escape poverty and stabilize their lives.
