VHO - On the afternoon of June 19th, in Hanoi, the People's Committee of Son La province organized a Business Networking program and announced the ambassador of Son La Arabica coffee to participate in the World Brewers Cup 2026 in the Kingdom of Belgium.
As part of his working visit to Luang Prabang province, Lao People's Democratic Republic, on June 26th, Mr. Hoang Van Nghiem, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Son La province, along with his delegation, visited and surveyed several cultural heritage sites, typical tourist destinations, and cooperation projects between Son La province and Luang Prabang.
On June 25th, the Department of Construction of Son La province, in coordination with the Pacific Construction Group of China, held a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding on information exchange and cooperation to enhance information sharing, experience sharing, and research cooperation opportunities in the field of infrastructure development, urban infrastructure, and transportation infrastructure in Son La province.
On the afternoon of June 25th, in Luang Prabang province, Lao People's Democratic Republic, a high-level delegation from Son La province, led by Mr. Hoang Van Nghiem, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Head of the Son La Provincial National Assembly Delegation, held talks with a high-level delegation from Luang Prabang province, led by Mr. Bun Luom Mani Vong, Member of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; and simultaneously signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the two provinces for the period 2026-2029.
On June 12th, Mr. Dang Ngoc Hau, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, chaired a meeting with the Department of Foreign Affairs and other relevant departments and agencies to review the preparation of the content and program of the working visit of the Secretary of the Son La Provincial Party Committee to the three provinces of Luang Prabang, Oudomxay, and Bokeo in the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
In implementing the Party and State's foreign policy guidelines and orientations, our province is strengthening international cooperation, especially with provinces in neighboring Laos; promoting the image, potential, and strengths of the province; boosting investment attraction, trade, tourism, and mobilizing resources for development.
During his visit to Son La province on June 6th and 7th, Mr. Ito Naoki, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam, and his wife visited and experienced several tourism and agricultural models in Moc Chau and Van Ho areas. Welcoming the delegation were: Mr. Nguyen Dinh Viet, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Dang Ngoc Hau, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and leaders of several relevant departments and agencies.
On May 7th, Mr. Van Si Phuong Ma Lay, Director of the Department of Justice of Udomxay Province, Lao People's Democratic Republic, led a delegation to visit Son La Province to exchange and learn from its experience in judicial work and civil enforcement. The delegation was received and worked with by leaders of the Provincial Department of Justice and Civil Enforcement.
In the province, there are more than 1,000 Lao students studying at universities and colleges. The province consistently prioritizes the training of human resources for Laos, implementing policies to support their studies and living conditions, creating favorable conditions for Lao students to acquire knowledge and contributing to strengthening the special solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos, and between Son La and the provinces of Laos.
Never before has the spirit of "overcoming the sun and rain" been so fervent across the border regions as it is now. From site surveys and planning to issuing investment decisions, everything is being done at an unprecedented speed to ensure that 13 border communes in Son La province have spacious and well-equipped schools before the start of the 2026-2027 school year.
Spanning the border region, the frontier of the Fatherland, Son La province is implementing a "rapid" campaign to carry out the Politburo's Conclusion Notice No. 81-TB/TW to build 13 boarding schools. These "Dream Schools" represent a major initiative, demonstrating the profound concern of the Party and State in the strategy of developing education, raising the intellectual level of the people, creating a source of cadres from ethnic minorities, and contributing to strengthening national defense and security in border areas.
The experience gained from participating in previous operations to dismantle transnational drug trafficking rings has helped Lieutenant Colonel Ha Van Chinh (Commander of Chieng On Border Guard Station, Son La Provincial Border Guard) and his unit build a "steel shield" to maintain the area against the "drug epidemic".
During the April 30th and May 1st holidays, the Son La Prison National Special Historical Site attracts a large number of domestic and international visitors.
On February 24th, Mr. Dang Ngoc Hau, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, chaired a meeting with the Department of Foreign Affairs and relevant units regarding the progress of developing the socio-economic development, national defense and security, and foreign affairs plan for the border areas of Son La province, for the periods 2026-2030 and 2030-2035.
In the vibrant atmosphere of the new spring, while families gather around the reunion dinner table, at the "borderland" of the Fatherland, officers and soldiers of the Chiềng On Border Guard Post, under the Sơn La Provincial Border Guard Command, quietly set aside their personal feelings, standing firm on the border, holding their weapons steady, fulfilling their duty of combat readiness, and firmly protecting national sovereignty and border security. Although they cannot fully reunite with their families on New Year's Eve, for them, the greatest joy is contributing to bringing a peaceful spring to the people.

This is what motivates the officers and soldiers to steadfastly remain in their assigned areas, ready to sacrifice personal feelings to ensure a complete and joyful spring for the Fatherland.
While the city streets are bustling in the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), along the province's border, the spirit of spring also knocks on the doors of the highland villages. Amidst the towering mountains and forests, Tet is not only a time for family reunions, but also becomes warmer thanks to the care and attention that all levels of government, agencies, and units dedicate to the people in this "frontier" of the Fatherland.
The Long Sap International Border Gate Border Guard Station - Son La Provincial Border Guard Command is located on the border between Vietnam and Laos, in an area with rugged mountainous terrain and narrow roads. This area is closely linked to the history and strategy of border protection, playing a crucial role in maintaining national security.
Along the majestic borderlands, new schools are gradually taking shape, carrying with them the aspiration for change and illuminating the dreams of the future for the children of ethnic minorities. The "Campaign to build schools for border communes" is being implemented rapidly in Son La province with urgency and determination, fulfilling the Party's major policy of caring for human development, ensuring social security, consolidating public support, and building a strong border defense system for the Fatherland.

In preparation for the upcoming elections for the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term, the Provincial Border Guard is tightening its personnel and implementing comprehensive operational measures to ensure security and order. Besides upholding sovereignty, propaganda efforts are being intensified to ensure that election day proceeds safely and in accordance with the law.
On February 9th, in Hanoi, the Ministry of National Defence held a conference to summarize the five-year implementation of the project "Organizing in-depth training, dissemination, and popularization of the Vietnamese Border Guard Law and its detailed regulations for the period 2021-2025". The conference was held online, connecting to the Border Guard Command Headquarters of provinces and cities.
The delegation from the Department of Foreign Affairs attended the inauguration and handover ceremony of the new office building of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Luang Prabang province, Lao People's Democratic Republic.
On February 5th, Son La College organized a series of activities to celebrate the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026 for more than 400 Lao students and trainees studying at the school.
